Creative space with garden veranda + woodburner. Spacious, artistic, the studio has an extensive library + woodburner for cosy evenings in. *NO TV* Lovely light and spacious en suite bedrooms with beams. The property is carbon neutral - underfloor heating, hemp and lime insulate the walls. Natural clay paints give the place a homely and organic feel. We have lovingly renovated the barn from a derelict over the past 15 years and enjoy welcoming guests. Wolf Moon Yurt available for extra people.

The space
QUIET, PEACEFUL SETTING with lovely garden and 3 acres of grounds and woods to explore. Adjacent to our home. Garden views. The studio retains all of the original character, and with the organic feel of the hemp and lime on the walls there is an added charm and atmosphere to the building. Walk on many paths straight from our garden and woods.

The studio was an animal barn which we bought and renovated. Mick did all the work himself. The style is contemporary yet retaining a rustic charm. With books, (lots) games, jigsaws and maps you won't be bored if it rains and you can still sit on the veranda and enjoy the outdoors.

Perfect for a peaceful and creative retreats - it's perfect for use as a creative space - the veranda has an 8 ft table.. The utility kitchen has a nice big fridge, cooker, microwave oven/grill, kettle, toaster and dishwasher. There's another woodburner out under the covered veranda for a glamping outdoorsy feel and a wood-fired pizza oven for your use (and you can ask for help/advice with this!).

The rustic feel is balanced with lovely fresh and clean beamed bedrooms and luxury en suite bathrooms with great showers. One bedroom has a bath/shower, the other a walk-in shower.

We are next door but we won't disturb you... and are very relaxed anyway - we want you to relax and enjoy yourselves. We have a cat and a friendly dog. The cat will probably visit you, he has been spoiled by guests and has high expectations.

We are happy to help you if you need anything, and are happy to chat about places to go and where to eat etc.

It can sleep 6 but 4 is best. Please enquire.
YURT SPACE AVAILABLE in orchard, sleeps 2.

We also have a yurt which can be rented too. Please ask.

Guest access
The veranda looks out onto your own back garden and then into the trees. Then there's the communal lawn and grounds; you can play badminton in the summer and there are 3 acres of garden and woods to explore, a stream, an overgrown pond (nature area!) and Mick has planted a forest garden down the field. The track takes you down to a green lane from where you can walk to the woods, or even all the way to Cardigan on public footpaths. Ask us about a local affordable private swimming pool 5 mins away.

Other things to note
• QUIET RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY, not suitable for noisy groups.
• No music outside, and all quiet on veranda after 9pm
• ECO ELECTRIC our electricity is 100% from renewables.
• LOGS one free basket then £4 donation per basket (as there is underfloor heating to keep you warm)
• Our dog is called Dusty. He's a sheepdog collie crossed with a bearded collie so he's a bit confused and really scruffy with ridiculous ears. Teabag cat is possibly the friendliest cat ever.
• Two dogs only - Dogs must be quiet and friendly and kept on a lead at all times. Eco compostable dog bags please. Thank you.

Neighbourhood highlights

The barn feels peaceful. Set in an old farmyard of Garregllwyd ("Grey stones") with two residential properties (a house and another barn) that do not belong to us. We are down off the main road so we are sheltered from the wind and it feels secluded, but actually we are only a minutes walk from the main road so there is very quick and easy access to Cardigan town ( 10 mins) and Newport ( 10 mins). The location is fantastic for exploring north south east and west.

Hello! Cartws Bach and ArtHouse Barn Studio are zero carbon eco-friendly holiday cottages- created from a derelict barn- which we have created and lived in starting off in a £500 caravan for 4 years in 2007. We have not taken a home from local people to provide your holiday home so that feels good. We welcome all people from all backgrounds here - and will help you in any way we can to ensure you have a relaxing and happy time here. We live here too so are on hand if you need anything, but we won’t disturb you. Mick is a retired builder now he has finished the barn he is now "The Gardener" spending his time working in the garden and grounds and tending his forest garden. I work for the Mindfulness Association and am a designer/map illustrator (My Cardigan maps are up around the town) and also a community workshop leader-(giant knitted Cardigan of Cardigan in Stiwdio 3 on the High Street in Cardigan. Www.ArtHouse graphics.co.uk We love nature, aesthetics and a peaceful, simple life. We are relaxed and want visitors to share what we have here and enjoy the relaxed space, peace and nature. Now we have finished all the building work; both Cartws Bach and the Art House Studio are available to rent. Our attention has now moved onto the gardens and are looking forward to all the little garden details we can add to the grounds to create a space where people can relax and take time for contemplation. We positively welcome any feedback as we really want this place to be the best it can be for all our guests. We love having you to stay and are always on hand to help you if you need to talk about where to explore or go to eat. We have a shaggy dog Dusty (he's a bit odd) and teabag the cat who was described in one review as " the nicest cat I've ever met" haha he seems to have become a bit of a hero- he will want to visit you. Our neighbours are sensitive to noise - it's a quiet place, please respect the quiet nature of the property. The accommodation is eco friendly - the products we leave for you are bought from cooperative company SUMA and are as much as possible environmentally friendly. That's important to us.
