Neighbourhood highlights

Falstone is a beautiful little village nestled at the foot of Kielder reservoir, the dam is about 1 mile walk from the house. Numerous walks are literally on the doorstep and the North Tyne river skirts the village. Next door to the house is the Falstone Tea Rooms (great for a lazy breakfast) and to the other side there is a play park with tennis courts.

The heart of the village is the Black Cock Inn, an award winning and welcoming pub which serves good food and a selection of local beers and spirits (200m). Slightly further afield, the Pheasant Inn at Stannersburn is within easy walking distance and the leisure complex at Kielder Waterside is about 10 minutes drive.

Kielder has a host of leisure activities to get stuck into -walking, cycling, sailing, archery, segways, zip wires and some very challenging mountain bike trails. There is also an observatory where you can take advantage of the Dark Skies and see the Northern Lights, meteor showers etc. Stunning, but popular, so book ahead!

Further afield Hadrians Wall is a must and is 30-45 mins by car, Newcastle and Carlisle are roughly an hour each and Edinburgh is 2hr 15 (the border towns of Melrose and Jedburgh well worth a stop on the way). Hexham is c.40 mins is also worth visiting, as is Corbridge.

Nearest shops are at Bellingham (Co-op, butchers, greengrocers, chemist, post office etc.) and ASDA and Tesco will do online delivery. There is a very limited range of essentials sold at the neighbouring tea rooms.
