Homestead Brzov is a simple but comfortable place in a beautifull valley. Suites those who want to stay on a quiet spot with starry nights and the freedom of lots of nature.

The space
This two floor house has 4 bedrooms, a bathroom, 2 toilets and an open kitchen with a living. It is located straight in the nature in its own valley. From the living you walk outside on the deck overlooking our valley.

On our smallholding we have two houses and several small barns. On the pictures you can see the house with the "white" roof on the left where we live and the house with the orange roof on the right that is for rent. Both houses are oriented away from the yard and have therefor total privacy.

From the house you look over our meadows into the valley. In the meadows we have 6 horses and a pony. Around our house we have 7 cats.

In the neighboring village of Kralova is a Hotel with an indoor swimming pool, sauna and an outdoor tennis court. You can make horse rides through the Kralova mountains from the local ranch.

On the other side, 45 minutes up the hill you find the traditional settlement of Sekier and behind that the Zajezova ecologal centre. Nearby are the historical mining cities of Banska Stiavnica and Banska Bystrica.

You can reach us with the citybus from Zvolen train and bus station three times a day. By car you can reach us over the highway in under 2 hours from Bratislava. A supermarket you will find on 15 minutes drive in the city of Zvolen.

Most people visit this place not because of the house, but because of its beautifull location. Privacy, quietness and wilderness. We welcome you for a stay at our place

Guest access
You have access to the whole house. 2 small downstairs rooms we have closed for clean bedding and for cleaning equipment.

We are situated in the country side. When there is a lot of rain or after the snow it can be muddy here. Not around the house, but around the horses and our entrance road can become muddy. In the worst case we will bring your luggage to the house and you would have to walk the last 400 meters. In winter snow chains can be needed

Other things to note
We have a good unlimited internet connection.

In the pictures or reviews you might see or read about other animals we had, but we have at this moment only horses and cats. Our horses are not for riding or petting, but you can ride at the nearby ranch.

It might be a good idea to do shopping before you come up to Kralova. Otherwise you'll have to drive back 12 minutes to the nearest supermarket, down in the city.

Important! Electricity is not included in the price.
Electricity costs and our green policy:
Electricity is mostly a cost in winter. It is very much depending on the guest how much electricity is used for heating. On average we see mid-winter an electricity usage between 5 and 70 euro per day (0,25 €/kWh), very much depending on your heating profile and how green you would like to be. In the house is a measuring display where you can follow your electricity usage. We ask you kindly to keep cash at hand to even the electricity bill at your departure because we have a lot of nature but no card payment facilities.

Warning! We try to prevent wrong expectations, so here a few mismatches we have found in the expectations of some guests: Our place is really in nature, not in/near a village. Our access road might get muddy, around the house you'll find nature, not golfcourse lawns, no flowerperks nor nice paved footpaths! Here grow also plants like nettle and thistle. We cut the grass once in a while around the house and fireplace but there is plenty of long grass that migh contain ticks. Our cats are not inside city cats, they are farm cats and they eat mice (and the stuff you leave on the table after you have left). The deck has no fence, this might be not practical for your 3 year old. Keep the doors closed, or you might find a frog in the kitchen (or will it be a prince?). In the evening you might have deer visiting on the deck and in the yard, or at night noisy wild pigs that mess-up our meadows next to the house. And there is a bear, but it keeps its distance and therefor not many saw him or her. Also our place is depending on public electricity service. A heavy storm or heavy snowfall can damage the above ground electricity supply and leave us for half a day without electricity, and than also our waterpump will not work (and you cannot splash the toilet). These nature events rarely happen, but when it happens, you'll need to burn a candel for light and save water. :).

If this all doesn't scare you, I am almost sure you will love this place :) In short, this place is good for people who are looking for a beautifull spot in nature, and are able to handle the disadvantages of real nature. It's no 'resort' nor 'holiday park', just a simple big house on a homestead in its own valley run by a family of 3 and some animals. Ah well, said enough, just come and have a look, and you'll understand :)

Where you’ll be

Zvolen, Banskobystrický kraj, Slovakia

Our place is perfectly situated between the three most interesting cities of this area: Banska Stiavnica, Banska Bystrica and Kremnica. This area of Slovakia is an unknown beautiful rural volcanic mountain area. There are limited to none touristic facilities, but abundance of authentic Slovak rural live and endless unspoiled woods and flowering meadows. (you might spot our neighbor plowing, cutting grass or bringing wood with his Slovak breed work horse)

For families with children there is plenty of possibilities outdoors. Make a campfire and bake your own 'bread on a stick' or make pancakes, build dikes in the stream, pet the animals, explore the neighborhood, find the magnetic rocks in the forest, find a geocache, jump on the trampoline and more.

For parents there is a deck where you can sit and finally do nothing else than reading a good book. When you want to be active you can hike the neighborhood.

Hi! We are Veronika and Jan and we live here on our smallholding with our 10 year old son Timo and our animals. Veronika is mostly into horses and knows everything about their behavior. She loves to solve horses with problematic behavior. I work as software designer and like to work with wood. (I made the beds in our house for rent). Our shared passion is permaculture. Work together with nature is our keyword in horse management and gardening. Our smallholding has three houses and several barns. In one house we live and the two other house we use for seminars and rent to people who like to be outside like we do. There is one more small traditional farm house, but it is still in orignal state. Our place is very suitable for naturelovers who are used to comfort.
