Exceptional check-in experience

Recent guests gave the check-in process a 5-star rating.
Set in the centre of the Cairngorm National Park the cabin has a huge picture window to give you an uninterrupted view of the cairngorm mountains and a terrace for views across the valley to the hills and evening sunsets. Perfect for a relaxing retreat, to sit and watch the landscape and big night skies or as a base for walks from the door or exploring the mountains and woods or Speyside whisky trails. There is real peace and quiet and a cosy wood burner if you want to just curl up and relax!

The space
The cabin is a compact, open plan space for two with a double bed, a kitchenette area with sink, fridge and two ring induction cooker and en suite bathroom with a shower and loo.

Designed to sit lightly on the land the cabin is elevated on steel pins rather than concrete and equipped with a solar panel to harness renewable energy. It is set within 23 acres at the top of the field about 150 metres from our house so you have privacy but we are around if you need anything! You have a private parking area and then walk the last 50 metres to the cabin on a grassy track.

There is good phone signal but, rather blissfully, no wifi. There is a small selection of books and games. We can provide safe storage for bicycles if needed.

The cabin is out in the countryside about 4 miles from the nearest village, Nethy Bridge, which has a hotel, super daytime cafe, butcher and deli and small local general shop and a nine hole golf course. Grantown on Spey is about 8 miles away with a range of shops and eateries.

The area is perfect for hill or woodland walking, loch swimming, birdwatching or exploring local castles, gardens or the speyside whisky distilleries ( book ahead online).

We know how exhausting full time caring can be and we believe in the restorative powers of a calm, peaceful environment. For a portion of each month we are therefore working with a local carers support charity to give short, respite stays for carers throughout the year. Your stay at the cabin helps to make this possible.

Highland council licence number is HI-70623-F

Guest access
It is beautiful at all times of year but if there is heavy snow in winter you may need 4 wheel drive for access to the track although you can leave a car at the top of the track on the road if necessary.

Other things to note
You are welcome to bring your well behaved dog but please note there are other pets on site as well as the local wildlife ( deer, pheasant, partridge)

Neighbourhood highlights

The cabin is in a quiet part of the Cairngorm National Park with numerous walks and bike trails through the hills.

Nethy Bridge is known as the forest village surrounded as it is by the Abernethy woods where there are trail paths and a nature centre for birdwatching.

If you are interested in whisky there are dozens of Speyside distilleries within driving distance. We recommend you book tours in advance as they can get busy, particularly in peak season.
