Le Bergerie is one of four beautiful gîtes here at Can Llouquette, set in 30 acres of forest, gardens, a large shared swimming pool, and a flowing stream with natural plunge pools.
Can Llouquette is a very peaceful, 18th Century fruit farm with no neighbours.
All four self-catering cottages are completely separate and private. You'll just hear the river and birds - the sounds of natures.
The space
La Bergerie is beautiful private gîte situated next to the old Farmhouse. It was originally one of the utility buildings on the farm – probably a 'bergerie' where sheep would have been kept.
This gîte is suitable for two couples or a family of four. (If your group exceeds four, it is possible to accommodate two more people in the private, self-contained two-person gîte underneath the. main farmhouse.)
La Bergerie has been rennovated into light, friendly accommodation of approximately 80 sq metres.
One bedroom has a double bed, and the other bedroom has two single beds. Both bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms.
It has a lovely spacious open-plan living/dining/kitchen, which is fully equipped with fridge, freezer, oven and hob.
Attached to La Bergerie is an east-facing terrace for al fresco dining.
The terrace is approximately 30m above the river, sunny from early morning, and overlooks the chestnut forest down our small valley towards the Spanish border.
And then you have access to the rest of the 30 acres of shared ground - gardens, the share pool, seating by the pond and hammocks by the river.
Washing facilities are available in the utility room adjacent to the main Can Llouquette farmhouse.

Our home, Can Llouquette is surrounded by unadulterated wild nature.
It is a remote location in a natural reserve.
It is stunningly beautiful and peaceful and at times capricious and unpredictable.
In short, it is nature as few urban people encounter in modern life. For us it is intoxicating, unfeigned nature which reminds us of our true place in a world which we are rapidly destroying.
If you have adventure in your heart, and crave nature and sanity, it is for you.
If you thrive on busy towns and constant connectivity it is most likely not for you. In which case, do please think again.
We have no TVs (only books) and mobile reception is poor in the mountains (you will not get it from your accommodation).
In lieu of this you get pure peace: the sound of the river and owls, roe deer and wild boar at night, you'll see myriads of butterflies and Griffon Vultures flying overhead.
We are truly enveloped, blanketed, enshrouded in nature.
The perfect place to detox and completely disengage from the pressures of the daily grind: to rekindle family connections.

This is a WILD environment, if you have phobias or are anxious in nature, please think whether a mountain forest is the environment for you.
