Idyllic, rural getaway in the stunning foothills of the Pyrenees, an hour from the Mediterranean coast.
El Casot is one of three beautiful gîtes here at Can Llouquette, set in 30 acres of forest, gardens, a large shared swimming pool, and a flowing stream with natural plunge pools.
Can Llouquette is a very peaceful, 18th Century fruit farm with no neighbours.
Each of the three cottages is completely separate and private. You'll just hear the river and birds - the sounds of natures.
The space
El Casot is a small stone gîte, on ground level, adjacent to the old farmhouse, and is suitable for a couple, or a couple with a baby.
The bedroom, with stunning views out onto the forest, has a double bed and space for a small cot.
There is a charming, open-plan living/dining room and kitchen with a beautiful wood-burning stove, for spring and autumn evenings - again with unspoiled views out onto the forest.
There is also a private shower room with shower, basin and wc. kitchen and living room.
El Casot also has its own entrance, and a private outdoor terrace or dining al fresco - accessible by steps, and with beautiful views over the valley.
And then you have access to the rest of the 30 acres of shared ground - gardens, the share pool, seating by the pond and hammocks by the river.
Washing facilities are available in the utility room adjacent to the main Can Llouquette farmhouse.

Our home and the gites here at Can Llouquette, are surrounded by unadulterated, wild nature.
It is an idylic, remote spot in a natural reserve.
It is stunningly beautiful - nature as few urban people encounter in modern life.
If you thrive on hectic towns and constant connectivity; or if you are fearful of wildlife, insects, geckos, birds of prey etc - then please know that this place is nature at its most beautiful!
If you have adventure in your heart, and crave nature, peace, and a total escape from the fast pace of life, then this is the place for you.
We have no TVs (only books) and mobile reception is poor in the mountains. (Although we have great wifi.)
In lieu of this you get pure peace: the sound of the river and owls, roe deer and wild boar at night, you'll see myriads of butterflies and birds of prey overhead.
The perfect place to detox and completely disengage from the pressures of the daily grind: to rekindle family connections.
We love it, and we know you will too.

Who are we?
Simon is a lapsed anthropologist who has a small web agency.
Ashley was a trained classical singer who performed and taught. She very sadly passed in 2023 after 12 years combatting cancer.
Sophia, our daughter is a teenager now, but still busy having fun. We live up a mountain, an hour away from the Spanish and French Mediterranean.
