Cassiopeia – Lakeside Glamping Cabin | Galloway Glamping

Tucked among the trees on the edge of Loch Ken, Cassiopeia is a cosy glamping cabin designed for slow mornings, starry skies and time spent together.

Wake up to wide green views through floor-to-ceiling windows, step straight out onto the deck for coffee while the loch and surrounding hills quietly unfold around you.

Inside, the cabin blends warm wood, deep teal tones and soft lighting to create a relaxed, boutique feel that’s perfect for couples, friends or small families.

The Space

Cassiopeia has a simple, thoughtful layout designed to make the most of the views.

Two comfortable sleeping spaces sit at the front of the cabin, each with large picture windows that bring the landscape right to your bedside. In the middle of the cabin you’ll find a cosy living area with a leather sofa and round dining table, while the kitchenette runs along the back wall for preparing simple meals and morning coffee.

The modern shower room includes a walk-in shower, basin and WC.

Large bi-fold doors open onto your private deck where you’ll find the hot tub – the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring Dumfries & Galloway.

Cabin Features

• Two sleeping areas with large windows and countryside views
• Cosy leather sofa and dining space
• Kitchenette with fridge, kettle, toaster and essentials
• Walk-in shower room with WC and basin
• Large bi-fold doors opening onto the deck
• Outdoor seating area
• Peaceful woodland setting beside Loch Ken

The Setting

Cassiopeia sits within Galloway Glamping, a small family-run site on the edge of Loch Ken in the heart of Dumfries & Galloway.

It’s a place for switching off, slowing down and enjoying the landscape.

Spend your days walking in Galloway Forest Park, cycling quiet country lanes, paddleboarding on the loch or exploring nearby villages and cafés. In the evenings, return to the cabin, relax on the deck as the sky darkens and the stars appear.

On clear nights, the area’s dark skies make it a wonderful place for stargazing – fitting for a cabin named after the Cassiopeia constellation.

A Note from Your Hosts

Galloway Glamping is a small family project created to share this beautiful corner of Scotland with visitors. We’re always happy to recommend local walks, places to eat and hidden gems nearby.

We hope Cassiopeia becomes somewhere you can truly relax and enjoy the landscape around you.

Staying with friends or family?

Andromeda’s sister cabin, Cassiopeia, sits nearby at Galloway Glamping. The two cabins can be booked together, making them ideal for friends or families travelling together who would like their own space while still staying close by. It’s a lovely option for small group getaways, celebrations or relaxed weekends exploring Loch Ken and the surrounding countryside.

⭐️ We are located in a Dark Sky Park, a place with exceptional starry nights and minimal light pollution.
👣 You will be able to park a few hundred metres from your cabin. The walk between the car park and the cabin is along an easy path.
🐕 We do have two family dogs - just let me know if you’re not keen on dogs and I’ll make sure they don’t venture over to say hi.
🌊 We are located 15 minutes from Galloway Activity Centre that offers kayaking, paddle boarding, water park, boat trips, and more.
🏙️ Both Castle Douglas (the region’s food town) and Kirkcudbright (the region’s artist town) are within a short distance. They offer plenty of restaurant options, galleries, coffee shops, a planetarium, craft shops, and more.
🧺 Let me know if you’re interested in any optional extras (breakfast hamper / pizza oven and dough / early check in etc)
🪵 We provide your first bag of wood, additional wood can be purchased once you’re here.
🛒 There’s a large Tesco as well as a Co-Op and Aldi in Castle Douglas if you need to stock up on provisions. We provide tea, coffee, and local sweet treats. The kitchen has a double hob and an air fryer.

My work: Galloway Glamping
Fun fact: We used to live on a narrow boat
Business
Hi I’m Lottie, I live in Glenlochar with my Partner Kev, my Mum Caroline and our 2 beautiful girls Tillie and Avie. We moved from London to Scotland in 2021 buying an old Manor House on the side of the stunning loch, with woodlands, bluebells and all the enchantment that Dumfires and Galloway has to offer. We are creating a glamping experience within the grounds so we can share the view, walks and experience with others. A great location for those who love the outdoors, with beaches, hikes, mountains and lochs. Our cabins are bespoke conversions from joined shipping containers with all your home comforts to create a cosy, functional and inviting space with huge windows bringing the outdoors in with the comforts of a sofa and wood burner for those chilly nights when its too cold for a BBQ but the view keeps pulling you in! The cabins have 2 bedrooms, with a kitchen area, chill area, and bathroom. We have a relaxed, friendly and respectful attitude and are happy to advise of great places to visit, eat, walk, run, cycle - you get the idea :) - ooh and don’t forget the loch is there to be enjoyed!
