FAQ’s
Is the terrace for our exclusive use?
- The terrace is shared but it is large and on different levels so there is plenty of room to find somewhere to sit and eat or to relax. There is also more space on the lower level between the cottages and the sea with a wonderful double rocking chair that you are welcome to use.
Is there a village shop?
- No permanent village shop. However there is a very well-stocked Texaco garage shop 5 minutes by car and all the major supermarkets - Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Asda all deliver to Portloe. During the summer there is also a pop up shop, usually open a couple of days a week where you can order freshly cooked lobster and crabs.
Is there private parking outside the cottage?
- The cottage is set away from any roads so there is no private parking directly outside the cottage. However, guests may park on the adjacent Lugger Hotel car park to unload upon arrival. Cars may not be left there overnight but driven to the public car park 3 minutes away (£2 per 24 hours/£1 overnight or £10 per week payable into an honesty box). Walking up to the car park involves a walk up an incline and some steps.
Is the cottage suitable for young children?
- We welcome younger guests and can provide a cot/high chair if asked. However, we would like to make you aware that the outside space is not fully enclosed and there are unfenced cliff paths beside the property so young children will need to be well supervised.
Guest access
We like to welcome our guests in person, giving a hand with luggage and quickly showing you how everything works so that you can immediately make yourselves at home. Otherwise we operate a self check-in with a key available from a coded lock-box on arrival.
Limited free parking is available either on the village harbour or the road (overnight only in the summer). Alternatively the village car park is available for which there is a charge of £2 a day paid into an honesty box.
On arrival guests may unload on the Lugger Hotel car park but space is limited and cars can not be left there overnight.
Other things to note
The village car park is a few minutes walk away and involves some steps and an incline.
Children must be supervised outside at all times due to unfenced cliff paths.
