Room in a home

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
Come and stay in my spacious apartment located above an art gallery in Eryri National Park between the mountains and the sea.

This space is ideal for small groups. It is the perfect place to base yourself and explore the region with stunning scenery. Perfect for creatives, walkers, nature lovers, road trippers and explorers!

There are 2 private bedrooms available, including 2 doubles and 1 single for up to 5 guests. This booking covers the whole space for 1 to 5 guests sharing with the owner.

The space
The apartment is located in a rural Welsh Village with excellent facilities, and offers quirky boutique accommodation above my art gallery.

The property benefits from seas views and is a traditional stone built property dating back to the early 1900s. The guest accommodation is split over two floors with living room on the first floor and bedrooms above.

You can expect a friendly welcome from your host; complimentary fair-trade/organic teas and coffee to enjoy with biscuits. The breakfast is a help yourself selection of cereals, fresh fruit, toast and preserves.

Guest access
Guests can access free wifi throughout the building. There are no TVs in the room so please bring iPad or Laptop for your own entertainment.

The Reading room has a selection of games, maps, tour guides and books to enjoy during your stay.

Guests have a separate access to the property from the gallery, with lockable doors on their rooms. Guests have the added benefit of enjoying the Reading Room in the evenings for music, stories, games, reading and entertainment from 5pm. A help yourself breakfast is available between 8am and 9.30 am.

There is also a small courtyard garden to enjoy the morning sunshine.

This is the perfect place for a small group to enjoy the stunning surroundings. You will be the only guests staying at the property and have the added benefit of your own toilet and sink on your floor with a shared larger bathroom on the lower floor.

The village has lots of facilities including good public transport links, a post office, food stores and cafes. We are also very close to Barmouth and Harlech, which has lots of options for eating out, entertainment and more exploring.

During your stay
The owner is very welcoming and will leave you in peace to enjoy the space but happy to connect and help plan your visit to make it the most enjoyable experience.

The Reading Room is a relaxing space and you will have this to yourselves in the evening from 5pm.

Other things to note
I recommend parking in the free Car Park a 1 minute walk away and loading/unloading at the front of the property of travelling by car.

There is a train station in the village with direct access to Birmingham and beyond. The G23 Bus travels between Barmouth and Porthmadog during the day which is ideal for walkers exploring the Llwybr Cadfan, Taith Ardudwy and Welsh Coastal Path.

The beach is within walking distance and a wonderful temperate rainforest is also close by as well as ancient landmarks and sites.

I promote this space as a comfortable environment for all and guests must be happy to access stairways due to layout of the building. I like to use eco cleaning products for the house and laundry and avoid chemicals.

All guests staying here play an important part in supporting our arts programme here. A big thank you for supporting us, our artists and our community. 2025 is the first year welcoming over night guests back since the pandemic.

A warm welcome and a new adventure awaits....

Neighbourhood highlights

The village is perfectly located to explore the region. The property is located on the main A road between the mountains and the sea in Snowdonia National Park. The beautiful beach is accessible within a 30-minute walk or short drive. Directly behind the house, guests can pick up the Ardudwy Way which is 24 mile stunning walk that runs from Barmouth to Llandecwyn and takes in some of the best views in Wales steeped in Welsh folklore with prehistoric sites, varied vegetation and rare birds. More information can be viewed here http://www.taithardudwyway.com.

There is also the Merionnydd Coast walk, which is 69 miles in total starting at Aberdovey to Porthmadog and walkers arrive at Talybont, which is very close to the property for stop overs. This walk really takes in some breathtaking sites and similarly to the Ardudwy Way can be done in stages. There are also many beautiful walks available in the region so this truly is a walker’s paradise.

Ty Meirion also benefits from being on the route 8 cycle journey, which runs from Cardiff to Holyhead.

There are also quite a few attractions located within an easy day trip from Ty Meirion throughout Snowdonia National Park. Please check out the guidebook.
