Our beautiful 17th century hayloft with its rustic stone walls and high-beamed ceilings, is totally self-contained and part of a 22 acre smallholding nestled in the heart of the Brecon Beacons. Perfect for those seeking an idyllic rural retreat in which to relax and rewild, and stunning in every season! Enjoy access straight onto the slopes of the Black Mountains - hike, ride, bike, boat, fly locally, book a session in the farm's wood-fired sauna, visit castles, and explore gorgeous local towns.
The space
Our cosy and comfy hayloft features a spacious open plan living area with lounge and fire, dining area, galley style kitchen, mezzanine double bedroom and large second bedroom. The bathroom has both a roll top bath and a large walk-in shower.
Cwmffrwd Farm boasts 360⁰ stunning mountain views, twenty two acres of wildflower meadows and access directly onto the Black Mountains. The hayloft also has its own private outdoor patio space with BBQ and picnic bench. A private car parking space is also located next to this, and additional cars can park in the campsite carpark in the meadow (summer) or the front yard (winter).
The kitchen includes an electric oven, fridge, microwave, air fryer, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, pots, pans, crockery and cutlery.
Bedding and towels are provided, along with tea, coffee, sugar, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, cloths and toilet roll.
Facilities include wifi.
We also have a beautiful wood-fired sauna that guests are welcome to book for private use (£45 for an hour session). Please see website for more details.
Dogs are very welcome. We just ask that they don't go on the beds or furniture, and that muddy paws and wet fur are dried at the door using the towels provided. Maximum two dogs per stay, although do get in touch if you'd like to bring more. Please don't leave dogs unattended at the property and please keep them on leads at all times around the farm and in the meadows (we have chickens, sheep, horses and cattle grazing around the farm). The dog poo bin is located by the front gate.
Walk info is provided in the welcome folder, but give us a shout if you'd like to chat about where to go - we love to help you plan your activities while you stay and there's so much to do locally!
Guest access
The Hayloft adjoins the main farmhouse but is its own separate dwelling accessed via its own parking space, patio area and front door.
Tucked away on the farm, we also have a gorgeous wood-fired sauna that guests are welcome to book for private use (£45 for an hour session for up to six people).
The farm is an extremely welcoming space with friendly hosts, a swing in the meadows for little (and big) ones and plenty of information available about walks, outdoors sports, eating out etc from hosts Pridie and James. In the summer months, the farm meadows host a small campsite - a nature haven for children and adults alike away from the bustle of the towns and cities.
Guests are very welcome to exercise their dogs in the campsite meadows, we just ask for pets to be kept on a lead as there are animals about. There is a bin for bags located in the campsite carpark.
Other things to note
If you have one vehicle, the parking space for the Hayloft is just around the end of the farm. Please let us know if you have and additional vehicle so we can advise where to park it.
Please don't leave pets unattended in the Hayloft. A bin is provided for dogs just inside the first meadow gate and we ask guests to keep dogs on leads as we have animals and children on site throughout the year. 😊
Please drive very carefully and slowly along our lane to keep animals, children and walkers safe. Be especially careful around bends as people are often horseriding/cycling/walking up the lane.
Pridie can be booked to run private workshops and experiences throughout the year (1-3 hours long and suitable for all ages) that blend bushcraft and ethnobotany with Celtic folklore and storytelling. If you are interested in any of the above, just pop Pridie a message when you book.
The farm hosts a campsite in the warmer months, so guests can enjoy meeting some of our campers in the central courtyard and when out and about in the 22 acre smallholding's wildflower meadows.
If you have friends visiting you during your stay, please let us know and park visiting vehicles on the lane outside the farm during the busy camping season (we need to prioritise parking spaces for our campers in the meadow carpark area of the farm.)
