Guest access
There is a private area around the main house, but please feel free to enjoy the designated pathways on the property.
Other things to note
Brittlewood is located 5km along a dirt road from Underberg, placing you within easy reach of shops, fuel stations, and other essential amenities.
It is completely off-grid, relying on solar power for its electricity. Energy is generated on site and stored for use day and night, allowing the property to operate independently from Eskom. If there is little or no sun, a backup generator automatically cuts in to maintain power.
The iconic Sani Pass is easily accessible, with several reputable tour operators offering guided trips into Lesotho. Their knowledgeable drivers ensure a safe and informative journey up the pass.
Brittlewood is also ideally situated for participants in the many sporting events for which the area is well known.
A wide range of activities can be enjoyed nearby, including horse riding, tubing, trail running, mountain biking, visits to ancient Bushman rock art sites and hikes suited to all fitness levels.
Brittlewood does not have wifi but there is excellent Vodacom signal.
Please note that there are various ponds on the property and the river, which are not fenced off so small children should be supervised.
