The roundhouse is a beautifully crafted, cosy hideaway with simple, basic comforts. You sleep under a thick thatch roof on a comfortable double bed with storage drawers beneath, there's a small wood fired earth oven - fireplace for the colder months, there's a reading light and an electrical socket. It's small and cosy inside and full of character. You'll hear the sound of a trickling stream beneath the balcony, the soft hooting of owls in the night and the birdsong in the thickets about you.
The space
It's a cosy, intimate room suitable either for a single person or couple or friends wishing to enjoy a simple, natural lifestyle in beautiful rural surroundings for a few relaxing days. It's for people who love to be immersed in nature, the countryside and its wildlife.
Guest access
There is a simple thatched compost toilet nearby with a cold water tap, as well as two other compost loo's to the bottom of the camping field nearby the car park along with two hot/cold showers. Guests can explore the many different eco-buildings, biodynamic gardens and nature paths around the 23-acre site. There is a small cast iron firebowl where one can cook a simple meal, bbq style outside the small roundhouse as well as a gas hob & sink inside the roundhouse. The cafe onsite is also open Saturday & Sundays over Spring and Fridays also May onwards.
Other things to note
The roundhouse stands away from the main complex of eco-buildings at the centre and so is quiet and private. The rest of the Felin Uchaf centre is a busy hive of activity with volunteers from all over the world working on the vegetable and flower gardens and various eco-building projects and is open to the public. There's also a cafe onsite which is open every Friday to Sunday and Monday Bank Holidays. You can find out more by visiting the Felin Uchaf Centre's website There are sometimes events in the nearby Big Roundhouse - check what's happening on our website's events page. Neighbourhood highlights
The Llyn Peninsula is a treasure trove of small coves , ancient heathered hillforts, narrow county lanes and coastal villages- some quiet and others bustling with visitors and beach life during the summer. You'll hear locals speaking their native Welsh lanuage in shops, pubs, schools and workplaces. Its a friendly area with a close knit community, everyone knows each other for miles around. When the weather is good there's swimming, walking the beautiful coastal path, fishing and enjoying the outdoor cafes ....when its stormy there's great surfing ! The grandeur of the Snowdonia mountain range is about an hour's drive to the east . Westward - there is a small boat that will take you to Ynys Enlli - porth y nef - gateway to heaven - a small island 2 miles offshore home to angels and wildlife. You'll get an idea of what life is like at the centre here through watching a short slideshow called "Felin Uchaf Volunteers 2016" on Youtube
