Vibrant neighbourhood

This spacious garden flat is 350m from the beach in the centre of Hove with its superb selection of cafes, bars and restaurants. Hove Beach Park with its extensive sports facilities is 10 mins walk away. There's a private decked patio, a King Size bed & sofabed. Brighton's chic shopping & vibrant nightlife is a 30 min stroll away. Our welcome pack has Artisan bread, semi skimmed milk, butter, homemade jam & cakes. Car drivers get a free 1 day pass with cheap parking options available.

The space
The apartment has separate access down 8 steps (see photos) with a private walled decked garden area to enjoy an alfresco breakfast or evening aperitif in the summer! There’s a super comfy KING size bed in the bedroom with built-in wardrobe, chest of drawers and a foldaway table if you need extra desk space. In the lounge there's a large leather sofa bed which quickly folds out into KING size bed with a full size mattress.

We are dog freindly and provide dog bowls, blankets and treats for your companion with the nearby seafront a great place to go for walkies!

We have free Wi-Fi with 'Child Safe' access is on request with download speeds of up to 300MB increasing to Full Fibre 900Mb/sec in May 2026. There's a 32 inch Smart TV with Netflix and foldable dining table and chairs suitable for up to 4 people. There's a door into the lounge, but access to the kitchen and shower room is through the lounge, so please bear this in mind if you're booking for 3 or more guests.

The apartment has central heating and for your added comfort there is a cast iron remote control electric stove fire. The full size fitted kitchen has a 5 burner gas hob, electric oven/grill, Air Fryer, microwave, full size washing machine, fridge with ice box and Lavazza pod coffee machine with milk frother. The adjoining shower room has step in access.

The artwork on the walls is mostly by your host, photographer David Streeter, who's was the 2022 Brighton Artists Open House festival 'Photographer of the Year' Runner Up, and who's twice been Highly Commended in the UK Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards. Framed Artwork is for sale with a 10% discount for guests. There's also a selection of games, books, maps and local guides.

Guest access
Self check-in is via the key safe downstairs. Please note access to the flat is via 8 quite steep steps with a handrail and automatic lighting. If you're driving we include a free 1 day visitor parking permit to help you settle in. There is also a PaybyPhone app/meter parking @ £1.60 per hr or £8.50 per day.

Hove station with direct links to London is 10 mins walk. Frequent Buses to Brighton run from the end of the road (N.B buses from Hove Town Hall are cheaper as its within the central fare boundary. You can hire a Beryl electric bikes from George St or on the seafront.

Time Out ranked Brighton & Hove 2nd Best Walkable City in the world in 2025, and 34th overall, and Hove was in the Sunday Times 'Best Places to Live' guide in 2025.

Hove Beach Park
The nearby Hove Beach Park is now almost fully completed, and now includes:

- Skate plaza, pump track and roller area
- Tennis and padel courts
- Sand sports area
- Croquet and bowls lawns
- Improved water sports facilities at Hove Lagoon
- Babble terraced restaurant and Bar

Artists Open House
Dave is Secretary of Hove Arts trail, which is part of the Brighton Festival, and we host an Artists Open House over 3 weekends in Nov/Dec for the Christmas Festival, guests are welcome to visit when the show is on. All the work on the walls of the flat are signed limited signed edition Giclee prints by David or daughter, the Bristol based illustrator Yolande Ward Streeter, which are available for purchase along with Lucy's delicious homemade jam and marmalade.

Previous Artist in Residence
We don't have a blue plaque quite yet, but we found out the acclaimed artist, Joanna Carrington (1931-2003), lived here from 1979-1992. Her Aunt was Dora Carrington, who was part of the racy Bloomsbury set, whose Sussex base was Charleston House near Lewes (well worth a visit). One of her test paintings was discovered when we dismantled a cupboard (see photos).

Neighbourhood highlights

For food Shopping there's a large Tesco supermarket near George Street shopping area just 2 mins walk away. The are also two Co-op supermarkets one on Kingsway near the seafront and one on Church road that open late. There are three great Bakeries nearby - Real Patisserie (Chewy Brown is our fav) and Gail's at the top and Sourdough is at the bottom. Harriet's of Hove in Batchington Rd have refill stations for all sorts of food itmes so you can just but what you need.

The beachfront, which given a Blue Flag award in 2022, is 2 mins walk with a selection of cafes, bars, Lawn Bowls, Tennis courts and King Alfred swimming pool. Hove Lagoon & Cafe, owned by Fat Boy Slim, is 15-20 mins walk west, with watersports, paddling pool and children's amusements. Hove Park is 15 mins walk north with a cafe, all weather pitch, tennis courts and miniature steam railway (operating at weekends in the summer).

There are EV charging points in 3 adjacent streets and a bank of 4 on Hove Street car park on the seafront.

Vibrant, cosmopolitan Brighton is just a 20-25 min stroll along the prom or 5 min bus ride away with its historic Lanes and boho North Laines shopping, the fun packed Palace Pier, scenic i360, famous Brighton Pavilion and hugh choice of entertainment possibilities, including the award winning Komedia Comedy Club, Forge Comedy Club, Theatre Royal and Live Music venues like the Dome and Concorde II.

There are a number of Language Schools located nearby including LSI, ISE, EF, Echo and the Interactive English Language School.

Other local places of interest include The Devils Dyke on the South Downs National Park, The Seven Sisters cliffs near Eastbourne, The Bluebell steam railway, Sheffield Park gardens, the historic riverside town of Lewes, famous for its annual Bonfire night parade and nearby Charleston House, previously Sussex residence of the Bloomsbury group, which the Villa has links to through a previous owner in the 1970’s - artist Joanna Carrington, whose aunt was Dora Carrington.

I also exhibit my work along, with 15 other artists and makers, at our house which is part of the Brighton Artists Open House festival in Nov/Dec. I also write and perform poetry at local Open Mic/Spoken Word nights and I've been featured on BBC Upload. I was one of the Save Our Hippodrome group, that led a 10 year campaign to save this historic theatre in the Lanes.
