Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway, suitable for one large family, two young families or as an indulgent stay for friends or couples.

This delightful cottage offers a top of the line hot tub and wood burning sauna, as well as an Aga for a taste of country living. The enclosed back garden is ideal for children and furry friends alike. Discover a home that's cozy yet spacious, surrounded by nature and plenty of nice walks… if you can drag yourself away from the cottage!

The space
The gate lodge has three bedrooms: two double rooms with king beds, and a third room with bunk beds.

In one bedroom, the king bed can be made up as two singles, and there is an optional third pull-out bunk for the bunk beds. One of the sofas in the secondary living room also converts into a sofa bed, giving plenty of flexibility for groups.

As standard we will make up the beds as two king-size doubles and two bunk beds. For any other arrangements, please contact us before your stay and we will be happy to accommodate.

In terms of practicalities, the gate lodge's two living rooms and two bathrooms, plus additional WC, make it ideal for larger family groups. The primary living room is centred around a lovely log burner, and the secondary living room offers a more informal living space, with a TV (streaming services only) and access to the back garden. With ample fridge and freezer space, a washing machine, dryer and dishwasher, it's perfect for longer stays.

Please note: Whilst every effort is made to fully clean between stays, as a pet-friendly property, the Gate Lodge may not be suitable for those with severe pet allergies.

This is a period property, with the original building dating back to 1913 (though it's had a few updates since then!). We have chosen to retain certain historic features, as we think these add to the character of the Gate Lodge. Whilst it may seem obvious, Airbnb advises us that we should mention in our listing that there may be signs of the house's age. We work hard to keep everything looking well presented and we carry out regular maintenance, but Airbnb also asks hosts to mention that there may be minor elements of wear and tear that aren't evident in the listing photos.

This is also a rural location, perfect for a beautiful, peaceful getaway. Please note that this also means that there is some rough track to get to the lodge and occasional work on adjacent farms that we can't control.
