The old writers Cabin is set in our woodland garden in the hills just 10 minutes away from Lyme Regis. The cabin has been handcrafted from oak and douglas fir to create a luxury and romantic space for two. With a cosy log burner, king sized bed with feather and down bedding, outside bath tub and shower, complete with stunning views over the valley, it really is the perfect space to escape the world and re-set.

The space
The cabin is a cosy, semi open plan space with lots of rustic quirks and charm.

The living space has a comfy sofa with linen cushions to snuggle on, handmade coffee table, vintage chest with games and books and a log burner.
In the winter months, there is basket of logs and kindling supplied to get you started!

Neighbourhood highlights

We are located in the hills of Uplyme, just a 10 minute drive from the beach in Lyme Regis. It is a peaceful and beautiful area backing onto woodland in most directions. We have the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets, especially in Autumn. An amazing place for star gazing and bird watching.
There is a beautiful walk from the cabin into Lyme, through ancient woodland.

Lyme Regis itself is bustling seaside town with excellent restaurants and shops. The beach is a great place all year around with a large wild swimming community and beautiful harbour. There is plenty going on throughout the year but also lots of hidden away gems to escape to for peace and quiet.

The River Cottage HQ is is a 5 minute drive away and a great place for a morning coffee or spot of lunch or even one of their courses!
We love walking to Lyme Regis through ancient woodland which is on our doorstep and leads to the River Lim, then to the old part of Lyme Regis with pretty, pastel coloured houses and some lovely littles cafes and shops. There are various routes you can take with outstanding views of the coast which lead to different parts of the town.

The Shoreline sauna in Lyme is a fantastic experience, especially in the evening where it is lit by candle light and a cosy fire. There is an ice bath and cold shower to use in between your sauna intervals but we love running into the sea then back into the sauna to warm up.

The Mill in the old town is a great place to visit. There is an old working Mill which you can have a tour of, with artisanal shops, an art gallery, restaurants and a Micro Brewery which has excellent beer to sample and a great gin! It is set in a beautiful courtyard with the river Lim running through.

There is a beautiful circular walk at Golden cap with stunning views of the Jurassic coast. We love to finish with a tasty meal at the Anchor inn in Seatown which is a very old Fishermans pub that is super cosy and overlooks the sea.

Bridport is a great place to visit. It is a lively, vibrant market town with a selection of quirky and eclectic shops, cafes and restaurants. Our favourite place to get a good coffee and light lunch or breakfast is Soulshine and Dorshi for some excellent East Asian inspired food. There is also an excellent Italian deli called Mercato Italiano which has the best cheese, salami and pizza you will find!
Bridport has a fantastic antiques quarter with a great selection of treasures to be found.

Just a mile to the south of Bridport is West Bay. West Bay is a charming fishing village with one of the most dramatic stretches of the Jurassic coast. Originally known as Bridport harbour and was recently the set for ITV’S Broadchurch. There are many great coastal walks, fossil hunting and fishing trips around as well as more quirkily shops and cafes.
Rise is a great place to sit back and relax with a light lunch or coffee. If you are looking for something a little special, I would definitely recommend The Station Kitchen which is a restaurant set on a vintage train carriage!

Paddle boarding a kayaking in Lyme Regis is a firm favourite. Try Boylo’s watersports on the seafront for paddle boarding lessons and hire and Lyme kayak hire on the beach.

There is a big all year sea swimming community in Lyme Regis. We love to get up nice and early, when the beach is peaceful and enjoy a sunrise swim. A warm coffee and breakfast bagel is always very welcome after from the Kiosk right on the promenade. And for a special treat, a handmade doughnut form the Whole Hog (which also has one of the best coffees in town!)

Charmouth beach is a great place to go if you are looking for some fossils. It is a huge stretch of beach that is famous for its fossils across the world. The best place to look for fossils is in the loose material found on the beach, NOT around the cliffs. There are local fossils experts to help you and it would be wise to book ahead.

Hi, we are a friendly family that love meeting new people and exploring all things new. We enjoy long country walks on the downs and great food! We are a creative bunch and love creating exciting new spaces for ourselves and others to enjoy. My husband is a craftsman and can make pretty much anything from wood and I'm a holistic therapist and have a great passion for making lotions and potions, soaps and anything that smells great and is good for you. We grow as much of our own food as we can manage and try to cook it in our outside clay oven as much as possible. We love music, sports, traveling and learning new things.
