Exceptional host communication

Recent guests gave Leona a 5-star rating for communication.
Originally built 1857, and was in the Estate of Sir Hervey JW Bruce, owner of the Mussenden Temple Demesne, and has been passed down the years to the Kane Family for over 160 years.

In 2009 passed to Richard and Leona, who have lovingly trying to restore the house back to life, keeping the original classic manor house features.

Set with a large garden, quirky features, maids staircase, no en-suites, pantry, scullery, and a large kitchen. Everyone loves Quilly.

Dog friendly accommodation.

The space
The house is an old Georgian manor house, with very quirky features, that we have tried to retain. This is not a modern home with all new features. The house, over time we will be upgrade, for now we are letting it out, and hope that you will be on our journey to keep the upgrades happening after each few months of bookings.

The property has a large lawn to the side, back yard, and an extensive area that will be eventually landscaped. We have paths cut, beautiful old trees, perfect for children to play in or just sit and listen to the wildlife around. We have two tree swings also, please always stay with your children. Covered BBQ area with weber and gas bbqs (must be cleaned after use).

The house itself, has a main kitchen, scullery, pantry with washing machine/dryer (no dishwasher).

Green room/snug room, with tv, Nintendo/games , table for board games, jigsaws, and a cosy stove.

Main drawing room which has a deep piled carpet, stove, tv, netflix perfect for relaxing after a busy day. (Sorry no animals, due to the deep pile as other guests may prefer not to have animals due to allergies)

Dining room, with a large open fire, original wooden floors, the table also converts to a table tennis table, with attachments. (Please remove all Tyrone Crystal from the table)

Downstairs toilet.

Upstairs we have five bedrooms and with all old houses, there is no ensuites. We have one main bathroom, and an additional shower, sink area, which was the old maids room. There is also a small set of maids stairs which we would ask that you look after your children, as there is no stairgates due to the style of the property. The property itself has stairs, with a spilt level on them, it has a handrail on parts. Perhaps not perfect for anyone with mobility issues, please refer to photos (we are trying to be honest).
11 people Max (including children & infants for insurance purposes)

At the top of the landing, there is a small area with a long mirror, seat, and two hair dryers in the small drawer.

The Green snug room, has some board games, outdoor games, and puzzles which we would appreciate that is left for the next guests to enjoy also.

Below the stairs is has housed the hoover, and extra outdoor camping seats for use during your stay.

We are trying to work with guests with and without animals, therefore accommodating some who prefer not to have animals in rooms due to allergies. We appreciate as dog owners at home our dogs get to use our whole house, but we would appreciate it if you could just keep them out of our Drawing Room.

We do have one ikea highchair, and one travel cot etc

Please feel free to send any questions about the area or your trip, we will try to advise or help you out. Leona

Guest access
Outdoors, we have a stoned patio area, with a very large picnic bench, and garden area. Covered BBQ area.

The garden, is pretty much surrounded with a wooden fence or fence. Some of the garden is wilded, and we have paths cut for little walks, and also we have two swings and a monkeybar for childrens use, and would ask that children are not left unattended.

Barns, we have various areas on our farm, and one shed will be pointed out for use, blocks, coal, and kindling for use. Others are unlocked but we would appreciate if they are not opened.

The house is situated on the main Coastal route with a perfect setting to enjoy the whole area at your leisure.

Our house is very homely, a warm atmosphere, and we know that you will love all the funny little historic lovely features that we have tried to retain - we hope to develop this and will extend the house eventually making it more modern, but for now, enjoy with your family and friends.

The farm is operational, and we have cattle/sheep in the fields at times. Fences are maintained and shouldn't cause any issue. We are working on a cookery school at the back of the property, but no builders are in at present.

Other things to note
WASHING MACHINE/TUMBLE DRYER:-
We have a washing machine/tumble dryer combo, and you are welcome to use this during your stay.
We have left some clothes liquid gels beside the machine in the small dryer. Please read the instructions that are in the file for use on how to use the machine.

Washing Line:-
There is a small washing line just outside, that you can pull across for use.
We also have a clothes horse, which is kept upstairs in the back shower room. Please feel free to bring this downstairs if you wish.

Iron and Ironing Board
We have an iron and ironing board in the small pantry in the tall cupboard. Please always use the iron board when using the iron.

Cleaning
We have a hoover (below the stairs) brush, mop and bucket, along with some cleaning products should you need them (situated in the scullery).
Dishwasher - there is none! Imagine having a house with no dishwasher - yes, we decided that with so many in a house, why not enjoy time washing dishes, or making the kids to the chores! (some chance), real reason we had no room in the scullery or pantry for now. (The next extension will have changes)

Hair dryer
2 x hairdryers in the dressing area at the top of the landing.

Heating:-
All heating is by electric and electric timed radiators. They have thermostats and can be turned up or down to suit. We have the HIVE system in place, and fires in the Green Room, Drawing room and dining room.

Fires:- We have stove fires in the drawing room, and snug room. Open fire in dining room. Sticks, fire lighters (kept under the stairs) and then use the coal at night to keep it lite for the next day. You need to close the fires down at night to ensure that they don’t burn out. Make sure and take out the ashes (ashes bin outside), every couple of days otherwise they will not keep going. You must ensure that the fire places are kept clean and tidy. You are using the fires at your own risk. If there is an accident with coal, or other items such as sticks, etc please ensure that you get the fire extinguisher situated below the stairs, or in the kitchen under the sink. All damages will be paid for under the deposit amount.

The dining room has an open fire, and can be used. Please do not leave fires or candles unattended.

Please ensure that you keep the rooms well ventilated when the fires are on.

Sticks/Blocks and Coal:-
Located in the outside shed, 2nd door from the end. Please only use this shed, as all others are in the middle of getting renovated. We have left all the rooms ready for the fires to start, and all rooms have sticks etc.
If you require any more of the blocks or sticks, we would be happy for you to leave a token amount for their use.

Noise Limit:-
We have neighbours that are just across the road, and elderly, and would ask that there is no noise outside after 11pm.
