Peace and quiet
Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
The Suffolk Grain Store is a beautifully restored grain store for the windmill in Saxmundham, reimagined as a calm, design-led retreat. Just 5 minutes’ walk to the town centre and train station, it’s perfect for families, couples or business stays. Dog friendly and close to the Suffolk coast, it blends historic character with modern comfort. The property benefits from off street parking and its own garden.
Please note the accommodation is accessed via a flight of stairs.
The space
The Grain Store is on the first floor of a converted grain store for the Saxmundham Windmill (Access is via steps on the outside of the building up to the front door). It was originally converted into a dwelling in 2002 and has been recently refurbished by the hosts. Guests can enjoy the coast by day and return to the "stillness" and convenience of Saxmundham by night.
It has its own private parking area, with private entrance and private garden. It is situated next to the hosts residence. However window film has been fitted to the Grain Store to allow the guests full privacy (This is one way film, so guests can still see out, but from the outside it gives a mirrored reflection to stop us seeing in). The Garden is not overlooked and benefits from sunshine at varying parts of the day.
The accommodation comprises of a large open plan Living, kitchen & Dining room. This leads through a small hall to the bedroom and separate shower room. The main bedroom has a double bed, TV, walk in wardrobe with hanging space & draws and a small dressing table.
We provide all bed linen, towels and some toiletries in the bathroom. We can also provide beach towels on request.
The sofa in the lounge transforms to a very large double bed with a sofa topper.
There are blankets provided in the bedroom and the lounge as well as two hot water bottles.
The property has central heating and we ask that guests do not wear shoes in the property. However for the colder months we would then recommend bringing slippers.
A travel cot (with bedding) and high chair are also available at the property and an air mattress could be provided for older children if required. Please state when booking if you require either of these set up.
The kitchen is fully equipped and also includes an Air fryer and slow cooker. We provide tea towels, cloths, washing up liquid and some cleaning supplies. We also provide tea, coffee, hot chocolate and milk.
The washing machine and small freezer are housed in a small shed under the external stairs to the property. There are also retractable washing lines in the garden.
Also in the garden is a table and chairs on a patio, grass area and a small BBQ with tools. We do not provide the coal.
We are dog friendly for one small to medium well behaved dog, we even provide a little goody basket for them including bowls and a towel. We just kindly ask that the dogs are never left unattaended in the property.
