The space
This lovely cottage was built in 1640 and so is listed! The house is full of beams and has been beautifully decorated to give you a country cottage feel. It's located right in the heart of the town, so you can walk everywhere. The cottage has a king bed in the large room and a single bed in the smaller room The bedrooms are both upstairs and just just been decorated with new bedding and carpets.
Full bedinen is supplied along with spare pillow and blankets.
Downstairs you have the cosy lounge with the lovely large fireplace (electric woodburner) with a TV, WiFi, board games& small desk.
A fully equipped kitchen has everything you need and has just been decorated with all new appliances.
The bathroom is downstairs with a bath and shower over it.
We welcome children and can provide a cot bed, high chair, changing mat, baby bath, toilet seat and stand. There are some toys and books. Please let us know in advance and if there is anything you need. We will happily help!
We also welcome dogs (just one please as the cottage is small). We request that the dogs do not go upstairs to keep this area pet free. Just in case we have provided a dog towel, blanket, bowls and some treats 😋. There are tons of lovely walks and the park is just a 5 min walk and it has an enclosed area so you can let your best friend off the lead. We can recommend some lovey areas to take your woofer! There is a vet with 1 min walk from the cottage.
There is no garden but it's surrounded by countryside with fishing lakes nearby and just 40 mins from the Norfolk Broads and coast. There is also a park for children, dog park, gym, tennis & squash courts all within walking distance.
There is every takeaway you could wish for, some lovely restaurants and a Coop within walking distance and a larger Lidl on the outskirts.
Plenty of free parking by the church or by the Coop, both of which are just 2mins walk from the cottage. There is parking in tge Street just seconds from the cottage but it's restricted but you can park from 4pm to 9am.
***Please note*** The cottage is centrally location on the thoroughfare right in the heart of the town, traffic noise is unavoidable as this town (thankfully) still thrives!
The fireplace has an electric woodburner, when you see the beams you will understand why!
We can provide fans and extra heaters if required.
Guest access
We will try and greet all guests but if it's not possible you can let yourself in using the key box.
The whole cottage is yours. Please just leave the key in the kitchen (if you are sure you have everything) or in the keybox if you might panic.
Other things to note
Please note the cottage is nearly 400 years old and so reflects this in parts, the floor isn't flat, the beams are low and the bathroom is downstairs.
*Parking* there is no parking outside the house but you will be able to offload without any problems. There is parking just seconds away so grab a spot and you can happily park there between 4pm and 9am. If you want to forget about your car just park it behind the church or by the coop. Its free and only a 2 minute walk to the cottage. There are electric charging points at the Coop.
The Cottage is in the heart of the town and so you will hear traffic at key times and the town is busy with locals getting their shopping and going about their business. Actually its lovely to still have a town like this and you will hear the Norfolk accent. Harleston is beautiful and unique in that it still has everything.
This cottage is a new venture and so we are still improving it every week. We hope to paint the house in the Spring and do up the little front garden.
