A beautifully refurbished 3 bedroom/3 bathroom apartment in the stunning South Hams village of Frogmore.
Located at the head of Frogmore Creek on the Kingsbridge Estuary, The Granary is perfectly placed to explore the area’s beautiful beaches, coves and countryside.
The coast is just 3 miles away, as is the charming market town of Kingsbridge which has a whole host of independent shops, two supermarkets, a cinema and great restaurants. Salcombe and Dartmouth are also within easy reach.
The space
The Granary is a beautifully-renovated duplex apartment proudly positioned above Frogmore Bakery - a landmark that has stood at the head of the creek for almost 130 years.
From the private entrance stairs lead up to the first floor where you’ll find the light and airy lounge-kitchen-diner with its vaulted ceiling and exposed beams. From the large windows you can drink in the beautiful Devon hills and catch glimpses of Frogmore Creek.
Watching the tidal creek ebb and flow will become a favourite past-time with your morning cup of tea..or glass of something stronger in the evening!
You can cook up a storm in our fully equipped kitchen with some lovely local produce from the farm shop just half a mile away (see details below).
Appliances include a fridge-freezer, induction hob and oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, dishwasher and washing machine.
After a long day exploring the area, sit back, relax and catch up on your favourite shows on our 43” smart TV which has Netflix, Amazon Prime and more. The TV can be gently pulled out and angled so wherever you sit, you’ll have a great view.
There are two bedrooms on the first floor, both with en suite bathrooms.
The Master bedroom’s en suite has a bath with a shower and a separate toilet. The twin room is up a further flight of stairs and again has its own en suite bathroom with a toilet and shower. We provide towels, 400 thread count cotton bed linen and hairdryers in all the rooms.
We welcome families with babies or toddlers and are happy to provide stair safety gates, a high chair and travel cot if you need it. (Please bring your own sheet for this). We also have a bed safety rail for toddlers.
You’re very welcome to use the beachy bits that are in the outside storage locker. In there you’ll find picnic blankets, a sun parasol, a windbreak, buckets and spades and crabbing gear. (*Please bring your own beach towels*).
What’s in Frogmore?
The Pub: You’ll get a warm welcome and some great food at The Globe Inn, which is just a 2-minute stroll away. Their pretty outdoor seating area is perfect for a cold pint on a summer’s day.
The Creek: With an abundance of wildlife and birdlife, a picturesque walk along the creek path or tranquil paddle on your SUP or kayak is an experience not to be missed. You can launch from the slipway just over the road. (We provide a booklet with the tide times, so please read it carefully before you go!).
Play Park: Just a 2-minute walk from the apartment, tucked behind the Village Hall is a small play park - perfect for wearing little ones out before bedtime!
Farm Shop:
Springfield Farm Shop is a little gem offering fresh fruit & veg, cream teas, ice-creams, breakfasts and local produce. They have a good selection of local ales, gin, cider, and a great butchery (their steaks are amazing!).
A lovely spot to sit outside and enjoy the views of Frogmore Creek.
Guest access
There are bus stops a stone's throw from the apartment giving you easy access to local beaches, Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and beyond. We do however recommend a car in order to fully explore the area.
Parking is on the street outside The Granary.
Other things to note
- The Granary is situated on the busy coast road between Kingsbrige and Darmouth, making it a great base for exploring. There is however some traffic noise during the day, but it is generally quiet at night.
- We're sorry but we can't accept dogs as the apartment is upstairs with no outdoor space.
- As previously mentioned, this is an upstairs apartment and guests will have to go up a flight of stairs to access it ( potentially two flights if they're staying in the twin room) so it is not convenient for those with reduced mobility.
