Set in this beautiful and peaceful part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Simon and Catherine would love to welcome you to one of our two private bed & breakfast studios, fully refurbished in 2020, both with en suite shower room, and lovely views across the dale. Both have their own entrance, giving you complete freedom to come and go as you please. Kitchen facilities also available.
The space
SEE ALSO OUR GROUND FLOOR STUDIO - Primrose, The Old Joinery, Garsdale - also listed on airbnb.
First floor studio suite with its own outside stairs and entrance. Refurbished in 2020, the suite comprises a sleeping and living area, with a king-size bed, and spacious shower room, and is equipped with table & chairs, bucket seats, high speed internet and WiFi, TV/DVD player, kettle, toaster and small drinks fridge. Tea, coffee and milk are provided. There is also an outside courtyard area with table and chairs, and we are able to provide locked storage for bicycles and motorbikes.
A continental breakfast hamper is prepared each morning. Kitchen facilities also available.
As dog owners ourselves, we would like to welcome your four-legged friends. Our own dog Dougal, a Cocker Spaniel, loves our long country walks and meeting our visitors.
We bought The Old Joinery as a going concern, having been visiting the area for many years, and have set out to give our guests the experience we would want ourselves, giving the accommodation a complete refresh. We absolutely love the Dales countryside, which is so beautiful at any time of the year and in any weather, and want our guests to be able to make the best of their stay with us, sharing the knowledge that we gain as we continue to explore the area.
Guest access
We're in a roadside position, so access is easy, with on site parking adjacent to the house.

Neighbourhood highlights
Garsdale is one of the smaller and lesser known Dales, only about 10 miles long but all the more intimate for that. The Old Joinery is set equidistant between the historic towns of Hawes and Sedbergh, both offering a good selection of pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, supermarkets and other local facilities. Also in Hawes are the must see Wensleydale Creamery and Dales Countryside Museum, housed in the old station.
There's also a local pub at the head of the dale, The Moorcock Inn, offering lunchtime and evening meals, or for the more energetic, we can recommend a walk over the fell to The Sportsman’s Inn, Cowgill for lunch.
There are fantastic walking opportunities all around us, both along Garsdale, Wensleydale, Dentdale and the Eden Valley, and up onto the Fells, such as Wild Boar Fell, and the famous Three Peaks, Whernside, Ingleborough, and Pen-Y-Ghent. Long distance paths, The Pennine Bridleway, Dales Way and A Pennine Journey all run close to us. If you are a keen bird-watcher, you are likely to spot lapwings, oystercatchers, curlews, buzzards and greater-spotted woodpeckers, to name but a few. Other wildlife includes red squirrels, regularly in the garden, deer and, if you’re really lucky, you might spot otters!
