For the ultimate family Somerset experience come and stay in our award winning Torre Tipi, nestled within the trees of our secluded 6 ½ acre orchard, on the edge of the beautiful Exmoor National Park.
Inside Torre tipi is hand crafted, a bespoke bed and a mezzanine level for the children to sleep. It has mains electric, lighting and a lovely wood burning stove. Plus an inside kitchenette, a BBQ and fire pit outside, with a covered patio making it the perfect get away, whatever the weather.
The space
Torre tipi has been handmade in the UK and is set in the middle of our beautiful, working cider orchard. It sleeps 2 in a bespoke double bed and you will find pull out sofa bed for extra sleeping space. Up on the mezzanine level is two single floor mattress beds, perfect for children. The tipi has been designed with a large family in mind.
There is a fully equipped kitchenette, with a mini fridge, single electric hob and all cooking and eating utensils, electricity sockets, USB charging points and lighting. Dedicated toilet and shower can be found in the nearby utilities block, just a few steps away. The interior has been decked out to a high standard, using aged cedar and repurposed apple wood, which has been hand carved by our friends and local artists Karina and Rob Heard MBE.
You will find a Cornish made log burner to ensure the tent is cosy on colder days. Children's night lights are provided
Externally the Tipi has an outside covered patio area with a table and chairs for you to sit out on and watch the abundant wildlife that calls our orchard home. Here you will find a Webber master touch BBQ for all your outdoor cooking needs and a firepit, perfect for toasting marshmallows whilst you enjoy the incredibly dark skies offered by the protected Exmoor Dark Skies reserve, one of the darkest places in the country. You will find some books on astronomy inside the tent to help you identify what you are looking at.
The glamping units are situated on the far side of the site, and are well separated from our house and the working farm areas. There is a communal utilities block with outdoor sinks and where you will find your allocated toilet and shower solely for your use.
The children will love to explore the orchard and we have a specially designed trail to delight them. Inside the tent you will find a small selection of games, books and puzzles for you to enjoy as a family.
Torre Cider Farm is an award-winning small scale cider producer. You can pre order Torre Cider's own cider and apple juice, pressed on site from our apples, and other goodies via our website to be ready for when you arrive or you can purchase from us while here.
There is a children's playground and a few very friendly farm animals to pet. We have plenty of local walks you’ll want to take once you see what the countryside has to offer, just ask for more information.
You are also very welcome to bring the doggy members of your family to Torre Cider Farm although we do ask that they be kept on a lead when other doggies are around and are never left unattended in the tent.
Please be aware we are a quiet campsite and ask for no loud music please and quiet after 10pm to ensure all guests enjoy their stay.
Guest access
Guests have out of hours access to the children's playground and the beautiful orchard.
As a working farm there are some clearly marked areas where moving farm machinery and equipment mean extra care is needed and your access is restricted, and, for your own safety, we ask that you do not enter any of our barns, sheds or outbuildings.
We ask guests not to enter our onsite apiary or any of the animal pens during their stay as even the friendliest animal can become spooked when disturbed.
At Torre Cider we love wildlife of all sizes and to encourage them onto our site we have instigated a no-mow policy in some areas of our orchard, this means that as well as seeing some beautiful wild flowers you may encounter a few stinging nettles along the way.
Other things to note
Please be aware we are a working farm with the apple harvest being picked during the Autumn months of September and October.
As a glamper you have full access to both the children's playground and orchard so why not have an evening BBQ or picnic with a glass of cider or two amongst the apple trees.
WiFi and phone signal is not always the best in rural areas, some networks will work, others will not. WiFi is the strongest close to the playground area.
Baby equipment is available but must be requested before arrival and we will leave it in the tent for you.
We can provide high chairs, baths and cot beds, although we do not supply bedding and the cot bed mattress is thin and hard so I would recommend bringing an alternative.
As we said dogs are very welcome but please do not let them jump on the bedding, blankets or dry them with the white towels. Please bring your own dog blankets and towels for your pooch.
We do appreciate accidents happen but if we cannot get marks out then you will be charged for replacements.
