Great Asby is a village with an excellent (dog friendly) pub called The Three Greyhounds where regular live music events are frequently held and good home-cooked meals are served.

The village hall also hosts a range of events including a cinema - more details can be found on the Parish website, search for 'Great Asby Parish' and this should appear in your Internet browser.

St Peter’s Church is a delight to visit and holds many village memories and also has a war grave for history enthusiasts.

The nearby town of Appleby-in-Westmorland provides an array of shops, pubs and history, whilst Orton provides an exceptional chocolate shop. Kirkby Stephen, which appears on the Coast to Coast walk is a 20 minute drive and also has a range of independant shops and resturants and access to pleasant walks along the river Eden.
