The space
A one bedroom converted ‘meals house’ barn.
Please note from mid-August we will no longer be accepting pets. Any bookings currently in will of course be honoured and treat as the 5* reviews describe :)
It offers one cosy new laminated flooring, living room, with comfortable double sofa bed and open log burning fire, two individual comfy chairs, coffee table & sideboard with games, cards, puzzles, local information. Throws & cushions give a more comfortable stay.
Smart TV and free guest WiFi. Also feel free to take the battery out of the clock for sleeping!
A full and well equipped, laminate floored kitchen; microwave, electric oven/grill/hob, fridge-freezer, washing machine with clothes rail under the sink to help dry out any clothes over the radiators, general waste bin & recycle bin in kitchen, full dinnerware set & glasses/cups/mugs, kettle & 4 slice toaster, kitchen roll, utensils, tea towels and hand towel provided, oven gloves. Shoe rack. Clock. Cleaning pack supplied and further supplies under sink should you need them in an emergency..please don’t spend your break away cleaning though! Except your used dishes please ;)
Two person small dining table set up.
Carpeted Bedroom has a double bed with kingsize bedding, overhead light, bedside table and lamp, full length mirror, dressing mirror, chest of drawers & wardrobe. Hairdryer, iron & ironing board available in this room. Sofa bed bedding will be found in the wardrobe should you request it (supplied automatically for guests more than 2).
Bathroom with specialised bathroom laminate flooring, standard toilet & sink, huge walk in power shower with toiletries supplied. Hooks for hanging towels, wet clothes from a days exploring etc. bathroom bin, toilet brush. Two toilet rolls are supplied as standard. Luxury handwash in bathroom & kitchen.
Own enclosed garden. Fire pit and stand for disposable bbq. Bistro set for two, two spring loungers, country walled to part of the garden with a small flower rockery.
Guest access
Everything encompassed behind the gate to Acorn cottage you can access (the cottage & garden) please refrain from going into the outhouses as they may be unstable.
As per house rules you are more than welcome to park up in front of the cottage for check in unloading and check out loading, but please then move your car to a public car park in the village or the lay bys on front street. We will not park our car in front of the cottage whilst guests are using it :)
Other things to note
We have a converted horse trailer turned coffee box in the yard adjacent to the cottage. Opening hours vary & are updated on social media, Bramble & Oak Coffee Box, and are never before 10am.
It is a quiet village so it is never stowed off!
Instead it’s a plus to bring something to the village for locals & visitors, with barista quality coffee, hot chocolate, cold drinks, iced coffees & packaged snacks.
Sometimes the box will be mobile and so won’t be available but so far our guests have loved being able to treat themselves to a lovely specialty barista drink on the doorstep :)
