The space
The Coach House is a self-contained one-bedroom first-floor flat, with its own private entrance (accessible up a flight of steps). It comprises:
- Small entrance vestibule with coat hooks and cupboard for luggage and boots - it also contains a yoga / exercise mat and a foam roller, plus a clothes rack for drying laundry.
- Large lounge with wood-burning stove, very comfy sofa, a selection of games, books and maps, windows on three sides offering views of the garden and Cairngorm mountain and other hills in the distance, plus a small dining table and two chairs. (No TV, but good internet for all your streaming needs).
- High-spec kitchen with a fancy induction hob and fan oven, fridge-freezer, washing machine and a few essentials including freshly ground coffee from local roasters.
- Cosy bedroom with a heated king-sized bed (150cm wide, 200cm long).
- Well-equipped bathroom with both a shower and a good-sized old-school bathtub.
The Coach House is private and generally very peaceful, standing separately from the main house a few yards away. On the ground floor of the building there is a garage / storage space, but use is restricted and full consideration is always given to guests. Occasionally, deliveries and visitors to the main house can be heard, and being close to a main road, in summer with windows open you can sometimes hear traffic, but guest feedback suggests noise is rare and minimal. Apart from the main house, the nearest human neighbours are 100 yards away, so the living creatures you’re most likely to see are red squirrels, deer and birds.
Guest access
There's plenty of parking space right next to the steps up to the entrance, which makes loading / unloading a car very easy. Storage is available for bikes, skis, etc. Guests are very welcome to enjoy the garden (shared with the main house), including enjoying the views of the Cairngorm mountains, Abernethy forest or river Spey from one of the seating areas, or playing the pitch'n'putt golf course (golf clubs and balls are available to borrow).
Other things to note
If you’d like to check in / out over the weekend and the system won’t let you, please just drop me a line. Some restrictions have been set to help with the cleaning schedule but it’s usually possible to be flexible.
