The space
Built in the 1980s and lovingly refreshed, Beachcomber House keeps its retro seaside charm, with playful colours and a few delightfully kitsch design touches.

The house is spacious and flows well. The communal spaces are designed so families and friends can spend time together or find a quiet corner. With plenty of room for groups of up to 10 guests, and up to two well-behaved adult dogs too, it’s perfect for family holidays, milestone birthdays and relaxed seaside weekends.

The house comfortably sleeps 10 guests across five bedrooms with full-sized beds. For families travelling with children, two additional small sofa beds are available in our family bedrooms. The house is listed as sleeping 10 so that every adult has a proper bed.

Games room
A firm guest favourite. After a day at the beach, head to the games room with pool table, darts, Nintendo, TV and a bar area – perfect for relaxed evenings together, whatever the weather.

Living room
The large living room comfortably seats up to 10 adults. Guests are welcome to rearrange the seating to suit, perhaps facing the 70” TV for a movie night or divided into two areas for separate conversations.

There’s also a small library and reading nook if you fancy curling up with a book. If you’re old enough, our record player and selection of classic 80s records might “take you back” – but thanks to modern technology they can also be played through the soundbar.

Conservatory
A quieter spot with four comfy chairs overlooking the garden – lovely in the sunshine, even on a winter’s day.

Dining spaces
The breakfast room is ideal for casual meals, seating up to 8 adults.

The main dining room seats up to 10 and works beautifully for celebrations. Guests are welcome to rearrange the tables to suit – they can be set for 8, 10 or 12, or separated if workspace is needed.

Fast Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.

Gardens
Our gardens are relaxed and informal.
The sunny back garden has a large lawn and flower beds, perfect for relaxing, BBQs or family games.

There are two picnic tables seating up to 10 for alfresco dining and three parasols.

The front garden includes a meadow lawn and a large in-and-out driveway with parking for several cars. A pay-as-you-go electric vehicle (EV) charging point is also available.

Bedrooms
Our bedrooms are designed to be calm spaces for a good night’s sleep, with blackout blinds or curtains, comfortable beds, upholstered headboards and 400-thread-count linen.

Bathrooms
The family bathroom (our “blue bathroom”) has a large double-ended bath and walk-in shower. There is also a shower room on the first floor and another on the ground floor.

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire house and gardens.

Other things to note
Beachcomber House comfortably sleeps 10 guests across five bedrooms. For families travelling with children, two additional small sofa beds are available in family bedrooms, but the house is listed as sleeping 10 so that all adult guests have full-size beds.

Neighbourhood highlights

One of the best things about staying at Beachcomber House is how close you are to the sea. From the house it’s just a short stroll to Dumpton Gap, one of the loveliest and least crowded beaches in Broadstairs.

Broadstairs is famous for its beaches – there are seven beautiful bays along the coastline. Dumpton Gap is the southernmost and feels like a bit of a local secret. At low tide the sandy beach stretches out and rock pools appear, perfect for exploring. In summer it’s great for swimming and paddling, and in winter it’s a wonderful place for coastal walks. It’s also one of the few beaches locally where dogs are welcome all year round.

Broadstairs town centre is about a 10-minute walk away, and the walk itself is part of the pleasure. You can head straight into town, stroll along the Western Esplanade with wide sea views, or follow the undercliff path or beach itself towards Viking Bay via Louisa Bay.

Once you arrive, Broadstairs has everything you’d hope for from a traditional seaside town: sandy beaches, colourful beach huts, independent cafés, ice cream parlours and shops selling buckets and spades. There are also two surf schools and a wonderful selection of restaurants.

It’s particularly lovely for families. In the summer, Viking Bay is bursting with children splashing, playing and exploring, maybe followed by an ice cream treat on the way home!

Broadstairs sits between the equally fascinating seaside towns of Margate and Ramsgate, both easily reached along the coastal path – although many guests find there’s plenty to enjoy right here.
