This luxury Black Cabin Retreat offers the perfect setting for a romantic escape and an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful Forest of Bowland and surrounding area. One of a kind and newly completed (February 2026), the cabin has been thoughtfully designed with comfort, style, and indulgence at its heart.
The space
Inside, the cabin features a stylish lounge area with a log burner, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout the seasons. The high-end kitchen is finished with marble worktops, premium appliances and top quality kitchenware, providing everything needed for a comfortable and indulgent stay.
The cabin also includes a serene bedroom with a sumptuous king-size bed. There is also a large skylight which is ideal for stargazing from the comfort of bed and allowing natural light to flood the space during the day. Black out blinds are installed on both bedroom windows.
Accessed off the bedroom is a contemporary shower room complete with a rainfall shower.
Outside, a generous decked area invites you to unwind in the hot tub, relax in the sauna, or refresh under the outdoor shower, all while immersed in nature.
Set within a completely private woodland clearing on the Claughton Hall Estate, the cabin offers uninterrupted views through the trees and a truly secluded, tranquil retreat.
The exterior of the Black Cabin is clad in locally sourced timber and black corrugated sheeting, blending seamlessly with its natural surroundings. Inside, the lounge is finished with natural sisal wall cladding, while the oak cladding in the bedroom has been sourced directly from our own grounds.
The covered hot tub area sits alongside the spacious sauna, both enjoying sweeping woodland views across the striking black decking. A glass balustrade encloses this area to ensure the scenery remains completely uninterrupted. Ambient exterior lighting and comfortable outdoor seating allow guests to relax and enjoy the view long into the evening.

Guest access
The cabin is located at the end of a mile-long private estate track, accessed from the country lane Manor House Road. The track has recently been upgraded and is suitable for all vehicles, ensuring a smooth and easy arrival.
This secluded setting offers a peaceful sense of distance from nearby villages, while still providing convenient access to the surrounding area. The city of Lancaster and the market town of Kirkby Lonsdale can both be reached in around 15 minutes by car.
While a car is not essential when staying at The Black Cabin, it is strongly recommended due to the rural setting. A local bus route is a 10–15 minute walk away and taxis are available. Private, secure parking is provided approximately 50 metres from the cabin, with a well-lit path guiding you comfortably from the parking area to the cabin.
Other things to note
At the bottom of the driveway (12 mins walk) is the well regarded Fenwick Arms which is a superb gastro pub. Please note that as the pub is down the hill from the cabin- it is much easier to get there than back if you are walking.
