The sweet spot between two classic alpine ski resorts (Crans Montana and Anzère) and Sion, the stunning medieval capital of the Valais. Bordered by a gushing mountain stream, a bakery/tea-room and a gourmet restaurant, with a bus stop on the doorstep, this gorgeous converted granary is a haven for everyone. Perfect for nature lovers, snow sports enthusiasts, mountain bikers and culture vultures. Botyre even has its own museum! A quaint and tranquil getaway with all modern conveniences too.

The space
The chalet is super cosy and well equipped. The front door takes you straight into living space with a sofa-bed, dining table and full kitchen. This room leads onto a generous East facing balcony with a view of the Alps and an ancient converted barn with traditional slate roof tiles, dating from before 1788 (the date carved into its timbers). This floor also has a small washroom with WC, basin and top-loading washing machine. We have special ceiling mounted drying racks. Guess what they're made from? Visit us to find out! The whole ground floor has under-floor heating with an easily-controlled thermostat. Unfortunately the fireplace is for decoration only and not safe to use.

There is a cupboard under the stairs containing a shoe rack, drying rack, vacuum cleaner, mop, travel cot, baby mattress and booster seat.

Upstairs is an open bedroom with two single/one large double bed and an extra mattress which doubles as a bedhead. There is also a generously sized workspace and two traditionally painted antique chairs. There is storage under the beds, built in cupboarding with shelves and plenty of hanging space set aside for you. Some books and games are also stored here. Finally, there is also a washroom with a toilet, basin and shower. The upstairs floor is fitted with electric radiators.

Guest access
You will have access to the entire space apart from some cupboarding where we store our cleaning supplies and linen etc.

Other things to note
Our hot water heater is not huge. It usually provides enough hot water for two relaxing adult showers, but possibly not more. If more than two people need to shower in quick succession, we suggest you keep your shower time short or not too hot. Otherwise, fortunately it does not take long to reheat, so you can also just wait half an hour before the next person showers:-)

Neighbourhood highlights

Free shuttle buses to the ski pistes and resort towns of Anzère and Crans-Montana. Free entry to the swimming pool at Anzère spa. An amazing 7/7 bakery with on-site bakers right next door to the chalet (including wheat-free options!) A few steps away from the Bisses (scenic mountain waterway) museum and mechanical music museum. Across the road from a great bar/restaurant "Ateliers des Gourmets". Two supermarkets (one of which is open on Sunday morning), a pharmacy and several beauty salons within 100m of the house. Another couple of bar/restaurants within a short walk ("La Riante" in St Romain and "L'entrepôt" towards Grimisuat). Local wine cellars with tasting experiences. Lots of local cheese, including a 24/7 fondue and raclette vending machine! A lovely friendly neighbourhood with year-round residents of all ages.

Botyre is a typically pretty little Swiss village, full of ancient wooden houses festooned with flowers in window boxes in the summer. In the winter, rooftops will likely be covered in snow, but in true Swiss style, pavements and roads will be cleared before you open your eyes in the morning. We live right next door to Chalet Bisses 'N' Love, in a converted barn which dates back to 1788. We settled in Botyre in March 2022 and have been really touched by the welcoming kindness and daily friendliness of all our neighbours. We love walking our dog "around the block" or up and down the surrounding hills. We feel so lucky to live here.

As well as the picturesque architecture and nature, we are also very grateful for the amenities we enjoy in Botyre: an almost round-the-clock bakery/tea-room with a huge array of wares including spelt and rye bread, (which is is 100% wheat-free and a treasure for me and many others who avoid wheat flour); two super markets - one of which is even open on Sunday mornings; a pharmacy; a museum; an excellent bistrot across the road and a thai food truck less than 100 metres away! Who could ask for more?!
