Flax Mill Cottage lies within the magnificent Grade II listed C19th Glasshouses Mill, once the setting of flax and rope production, with links to Fountains Abbey and also the Titanic.
Today the mill hosts beautiful living accommodation, in an idyllic setting by the River Nidd and Glasshouses dam, 1.5 miles from the small town of Pateley Bridge.
The space
This cosy, compact two-bedroom cottage is ideal for up to four adults or older families. Set over three floors, it features a fully enclosed patio garden, allocated parking for one car, and more space on the village road. We welcome up to two small/medium dogs (up to Labrador size), following a few house rules.
Restored in 2021, the cottage blends modern and traditional furnishings to reflect the history of the old mill, which is also detailed in the cottage for those interested. The space is well-equipped for both holidays and working stays, with fast WiFi.
Nearby Pateley Bridge is a 30min walk via a scenic riverside path or a 5 min drive. It features a wonderful High Street of dog-friendly cafes, independent shops, pubs, a fuel station and EV charging points.
Guests receive a personal guide to local highlights before arrival, plus leaflets and books in the cottage. Let us know your interests—happy to help!

ABOUT NIDDERDALE
Nidderdale lies within the Nidderdale National Landscape, formerly known as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Almost every type of terrain can be found here, from hills and valleys to moorlands and woodlands, rivers and reservoirs. Nearby reservoirs provide stunning scenery and walks for all abilities.
With no light pollution, you will also be able to enjoy stargazing at the cottage, or at one of the planned events nearby, throughout the year.
Many guests have wished that they had booked for longer, as there is so much to see and do here! Worth bringing binoculars and a camera as you never know what you may see!
Guest access
The guest will have private use of the entire property.
Other things to note
ACCESSIBILITY & SUITABILITY: Regrettably this property is not suitable for wheelchairs, guests with mobility issues or families with very young children:
• The bedrooms are on separate floors.
• There are two flights of fairly steep stairs inside and a flight of steps to reach the property from outside.
• There is nowhere to store prams, pushchairs, mobility scooters etc. inside the property.
• Bicycles may be secured to rings on the fence in the patio garden area. The camera can be switched on for security purposes.
DOGS: I welcome up to two dogs small/medium sized dogs (up to Labrador size).
While the property is dog-friendly, it is not specifically equipped to cater for our four-legged friends, so please bring your dog’s own bed, blanket, bowls, & towels. If your dog is used to sitting on the soft furnishings, please utilise the thick throws provided.
For hygiene reasons, dogs should not be allowed to sit on the beds, but again, if yours is used to doing this at home, please bring your own bedlinen and advise me in advance.
A stair-gate and crate are provided if needed.
Dogs are not to be left alone in the house at any time. In unfamiliar surroundings, dogs can become stressed - even if usually calm. There is an increased potential for excessive barking, destructive behaviour and noise disturbance and noise can carry easily around the mill, affecting the neighbours. Complaints, damage or additional cleaning resulting from the above may be chargeable.
Sorry, but this property does not accept animals other than dogs.
