Glenburn Lodge is a bright and tranquil sanctuary grounded in nature overlooking the River Spey by the Speyside Way walking route. The lodge and its surroundings are beautiful in any season, whether it's watching spring burst back to life, during the warmer summer months, amidst autumn colours, or on a clear frosty winter's day with the snow-covered Ben Rinnes mountain overlooking the Spey valley. Whatever the time of year Glenburn provides comfortable, spacious and warm accommodation.
The space
Indoors:
Within the lodge guests can relax in the bright and airy open plan living space, including ample seating and large kitchen and dining areas. There are full-height picture windows framing uninterrupted views of the River Spey and the 1863 lattice bridge crossing. A wood-burning stove provides another welcoming focal point. The space is beautifully decorated throughout to reflect the great Scottish outdoors and is maintained to the highest standards.
Glenburn is arranged on one level so all sleeping accomodation is easily accessible. There are kingsize and double bedrooms, each with an en suite shower room, plus a twin bedroom and a family bathroom. All bedrooms have good quality beds and bedding to help make your stay as restful as possible.
There is central heating throughout, a well-equipped modern kitchen, superfast fibre broadband, television in every room (living room has Freesat, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Discovery+ and UK TV on-demand services), and ample amenities to cater for all of your holiday needs. You can even ask amazon echo to play your music via bluetooth, or for a local weather forecast. Please contact me if you think you require something that doesn't appear on the amenities list, and I'll do all that I can to try to accommodate your request.
Outdoors:
The property sits within its own generous garden grounds overlooking the River Spey, including a private driveway for up to 3 cars. An extensive wrap-around decking area means that you can follow the sun from dawn to dusk (provided the Scottish weather agrees!). There are plenty of outdoor seating options, including a large outdoor dining set to accommodate all guests. If al fresco cooking is your thing, there's a charcoal BBQ for guests to use.
The garden is fully and securely fenced, making it ideal for children and dogs. Pets are welcome by arrangement, and there is plenty opportunity for beautiful riverside walks on the doorstep. The gate at the bottom of the garden takes you towards the Speyside Way where guests can turn right towards Aberlour or left towards Grantown-on-Spey for many miles of safe exploring on foot or bicycle. A 5-minute walk will see you sitting on the banks of the 'whisky river' watching the world go by. Take time to look around and you stand a good chance of spotting the local wildlife, including red squirrels, otters, jumping salmon, deer, hares and rabbits, and many species of birds and birds of prey. Once back at the lodge you can sit under the stars on clear nights and, when conditions are right, the Northern Lights are visible from the garden.
Out and About:
The immediate area is great for walking, running, cycling, canoeing and fishing. Venturing slightly further afield you're within easy reach of the Highland Capital, Inverness, The Lecht and Aviemore for winter sports and the reindeer on Cairngorm Mountain, Glenlivet Estate for mountain bike trails, or the wildlife and unique habitat of Abernethy forest. There are quality golf courses dotted throughout Speyside and all along the Moray coast. If whisky is your thing, then you're at the heart of the Speyside malt whisky trail, with many distilleries and visitor centres. Glenburn is also on the doorstep of the North East 250 route, described as 'The ultimate road trip to the heart of Scotland'.
I hope that you find Glenburn as relaxing as I do.
Your host, Lorna
