This characterful gite is a perfect fusion of English and French styles, great for Dordogne holidays and ideal for exploring the local area. Close to idyllically-historic Issigeac, you and your family of up to six persons can explore the countryside or just relax by the pool and watch the children play.

Le Petit Capelier, one of the loveliest Dordogne holiday cottages, is at the end of a long drive, approached through two historic out buildings. Beautifully built and over six hundred years old, this one-storey country cottage is sheltered by many ancient oaks (chene) scattered over three acres of garden with a classic Dordogne roof and traditional shutters.

Internally the hall reveals a galley kitchen, a bathroom and the 'through' twin bedroom, and the master room is found just beyond. Down two steps is the spacious and impressive living room (sejour), and the third bedroom off that. Comfortable and friendly sofas are positioned in front of the six-hundred year old fireplace; a long dining table for ten is located behind the sofas with lots of room throughout; the massive beam and high lofted ceiling remind one of the historic significance of such a beautiful house.

The decor is fresh, shabby chic and welcoming, there are many antiques and French treasures and fabrics are unpretentious and natural.

This charming and simple Dordogne holiday cottage is ideal for cooking throughout the whole year in the kitchen or BBQ facilities with glasses of something lovely while watching nature at its finest; or relaxing on the loungers and cooling off in the large pool.

Neighbourhood highlights

This is a very private place with very little evidence of neighbours. The nearest restaurant is about five mins' drive and the nearest bakery, butcher, newsagent, wine bar, pub and etc at least a fifteen minute drive. If you want to be in the heart of the countryside then this is the place for you.
