The space
If you're in search of the ultimate get away, this tranquil cottage is up there with the best. There is the feeling that the rest of the world has evaporated.

It’s perfect for retreating for a few days to explore the Black Mountains - there are great walks straight from the door, explore the local area, or just relax in the garden.

Enjoy the birdsong by day and amazing night skies. Indulge your inner recluse – read, write, retreat. Stock up on food, light the wood-burner, hide the car keys and relax.

THE SPACE
Enter through the lobby into a spacious kitchen. Up a step and into the sitting room - French windows into the garden and a wood-burner for chilly evenings. Central heating. Through to the 'cloakroom' with door to the garden and a downstairs loo.

Upstairs
2 bedrooms - the main room has a standard double bed with a shower in the corner. Second room has a day bed which converts into a super-king. Central heating.

Pretty bathroom with window looking over garden - shower over bath.

SECOND BEDROOM:
If you would like to bring an EXTRA GUEST please let me know.

There is a day bed in the second bedroom which converts into a super-king. I will provide the bottom sheet, but please bring your own kingsize duvet cover, pillow cases and towels.

CHILDREN - Please let me know
Max 2 children - 10 years old+ only.
Introduce your children to a digital detox and plenty of fresh air!

THE AREA
The nearest shop is at the Skirrid Garage at Llanfihangel Crucorney - 6 miles away, and stocks most essentials.

There are 2 traditional pubs within 1 mile of the cottage, in the small hamlet of Llanthony. Both offer hearty pub grub and are easily walkable for the keen and energetic. One is in the crypt of the ruins of the magnificent Llanthony Abbey - well worth a visit in its own right. There is a footpath to the village across the fields just down the forest track from the cottage.

The annual Llanthony Show is one of the best local shows around and is held on the first weekend in August.

Guest access
The house keys are kept at the cottage. After booking confirmation, instructions will be provided for where to find them. You will also be sent directions and the House Manual.

* You have the entire cottage to yourself
* Two well-behaved dogs are welcome
* Dogs strictly downstairs only please, and paws off the furniture
* Dogs £20 each
* There is a hosepipe at the back door, useful for washing muddy boots and dogs
* Useful lobby for drying wet dogs

Please let me know when you request a booking whether you will be bringing a dog or two

Other things to note
Graig Ddu is the perfect place to unplug and get offline for a few precious days. There is a little mobile reception outside, but to help reinforce the retreat atmosphere, we have removed all temptation and made Graig Ddu wifi and TV free. The only tweets you'll hear are from the birds!

The Black Mountains lie on the Eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park and are far less visited and equally renowned for their beauty. If you are looking to escape from other people, this cottage is ideal.

The Llanthony Valley runs adjacent to Offa's Dyke, and the wider area has many castles - Raglan, White Castle, Skenfrith and Grosmont to name a few.

Pub Grub - There are also 2 pubs in the hamlet of Llanthony. Like many pubs their opening hours are seasonal with the emphasis on the weekend.

Slightly further afield, but well worth a visit are The Crown at Pantygelli (open for lunch and supper all week) and The Hunters Moon at Llangattock Lingoed (winter hours - opens at 5.00pm weekdays).
