Loft Room no. 2
A light-filled, cozy room on the top floor of the house. It has two comfortable single beds, a closet to store your clothes and a nice view from the window.
Just outside the room is your own bathroom with a shower, and a private sitting area with a kettle for tea/coffee — both yours alone to enjoy. It's the perfect spot to let the day wind down in peace.
The space
Kirkmichael House stands in the village of Kirkmichael, on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park, on the A924, between Blairgowrie and Pitlochry, each about 25 minutes' drive away.
The house is a former manse with a history stretching back over 600 years. The ground on which it stands holds an even older secret — it was once the site of a druidic temple, and a sacred spring still runs beneath, emerging by the roadside as a reminder of a forgotten age.
This is a lived-in family home, loved, and occasionally shared with Soffia & Geoff's friends and family. But every guest still has their own privacy and space to enjoy.
Kirkmichael House is a place to let the outside world recede at day's end. The house itself is quietly unconventional, an ongoing work of art, lovingly restored and filled with eclectic curiosities.
You won't find a television here — that's by design. The house is meant for conversation, music and the slow pleasures. But no worries, wifi reaches throughout, so you're never truly cut off.
Agricultural land, ancient hills, and open skies surround the village, inviting those who like to roam and wander to explore the paths of this remarkable corner of Scotland.
Walkers come for the quiet. The Cateran Trail passes close by, an old drovers' route that climbs through forest and glen and over hills where the views go on for miles and you might not meet another soul all day.
Those who'd rather take the open road will find it just as rewarding — the picturesque winding routes through the Cairngorms please motorcyclists, cyclists and drivers alike.

Guest access
The ground floor living room is open to guests and rewards a slow afternoon. An eclectic space filled with artwork, curiosities and character. Settle into a sofa, browse the board games and books, put on a record, or pick out a tune on the piano. On colder nights the fire is lit, and the room becomes the natural place to gather.
Each morning, breakfast is taken in the shared dining room, a space made for conversation and easy company. During other hours of the day you're welcome to help yourself to tea or coffee whenever you like.
Brought a snack or a drink along? Enjoy it here too — Kirkmichael House is a bed & breakfast rather than a self-catering property, so there's no fridge or kitchen for cooking, but tea and biscuits are always welcome. We just ask that food stays in the dining room rather than going up to the bedrooms, which keeps the rooms fresh for everyone.
When the weather is kind, the front garden is yours — a place to sit in the sun among the plants and trees, with birdsong for company. There are a couple of tables out there, so it's a fine spot for a cuppa or a bite to eat, or for simply doing nothing at all for a while.
For guests staying in the loft, there's a quiet sitting area of your own up there — a place to take a cup of tea, open a book, and let a day's walking settle.
