This ancient, stone-built cottage offers a luxurious getaway in the heart of North Wales, minutes from Snowdonia, Conwy and Llandudno.
The cottage has been lovingly renovated to a very high standard, and features a peaceful, nature-filled garden with far-reaching views.
You don't want to miss out on the huge two-person soaking tub, perfect to relax in after a day's hiking.
This is our home away from home that we want to share while we travel, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
The space
The cottage is hundreds of years old, and as such is a cosy, characterful space. The cottage is warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and is filled with art, colour, comfortable furniture and interesting objects.
We both love to walk, and after a day up in the mountains, nothing is better than a soak in the two-person round, stone bathtub in the "post-apocalyptic chique" bathroom, or sitting on the Japanese cedarwood stool under the pouring rainfall shower. The bathrooms have heated floors; one slate, one copper - we hope you like our twist on traditional Welsh materials. Please note that if you have found this property through the “Hot Tub” search, it is because Airbnb keep on marking the cottage as having one - they are referring to this tub.
After a soak, it's time for dinner. Take your pick from al fresco in the garden under the apple tree, sometimes with a roaring fire in the firepit, or dine at the hardwood peninsula in the fully-featured kitchen, on tractor seat (from actual tractors) stools. They have the seal of approval from my 86 year old grandfather, so it goes without saying that they're comfortable.
Once you've dined, it's relaxation time - let the dishwasher deal with the hard stuff, and either kick back in the living room in front of the enamelled barge stove and TV, or relax in the summer-house in the garden, watching the sun set over the mountains, while sheep and birds serenade you.
Finally, it's time for bed. Upstairs, the two bedrooms each offer space for two - the master has a king-sized antique bed (antique, as it is in part 17th c. and in part 19th c., but has very 21st c. comfort!), 1920's gentlemen's wardrobe, and views to the mountains, and the second bedroom has two 1930's twin beds, and a 1930's wardrobe. Don't forget the aeroplane, I'm told. There's an aeroplane. Hanging from the ceiling. In the master bedroom. I hope you like it. I do.

There is parking directly in front of the property on a private, gravelled driveway.
Other things to note
Please do be aware that as this is an old cottage, some of the ceiling are low - I (Max) am 6'2" (188cm) and am comfortable there, but do have to duck in one or two spots! If you are over 6'4" (193cm) you might find the kitchen ceiling low!
We do also have an open staircase, so if staying with children please bear this in mind.
Finally, the cottage is in a rural area and the garden borders a neighbouring agricultural field, which may contain sheep and lambs. The garden is fully fenced from the field to prevent sheep escaping or dogs entering.
Please note that, as with any rural property next to working farmland, sheep may be visible from the garden, may approach the fence, and may make animal noises. Occasional agricultural or animal smells may also occur, particularly depending on the weather, season, and farming activity nearby. The neighbouring field is not part of the property and its condition may change seasonally.

The nearest pub, Ty Gwyn in Rowen, is a fifteen minute walk, or three minute drive. They have a riverside garden, which is a nice place to stop for a pint (or dinner) after a day in the hills.

Hi, I’m Maxwell.
I’m working on restoring an ancient watermill and farm in Portugal with my wife, Anna, and we’re making our apartment in the City of Bath and our cottage in North Wales available while we work and travel!
Our Bath home was once the Austen family's kitchen, scullery, and vaults - the very place where Jane would have made tea and breakfast for her family, while looking out of the window onto the courtyard. Anna has planted some roses and other plants, so the view these days is one to enjoy!
Our cottage in Wales has been a labour of love between our travels, and has become a place of calm and peaceful respite that we’re glad to share with others in our absence.
We love travelling, reading, the arts and culture, and our homes reflect our sensibilities. For our guests to peruse and to get to know us better in our absence, we have left numerous books, knick-knacks from our past travels and family histories, and the various technological conveniences we enjoy at home. After years of travelling, we’ve come to appreciate the value of a good bathing experience, and we have therefore ensured that you can enjoy an excellent one in our home.
