The space
The original mill on this site is mentioned in the Domesday Book. The present mill was built around 1687, and was a working water mill until approximately 1900. A dated, inscribed stone can be seen on the rear of Leat Cottage next door.
The building which served as a corn mill for the surrounding farms, was converted into a house approximately 120 years ago, Miller's loft was converted into accommodation in the winter of 1989. Some old timbers, with attachments, can still be seen in the dining/lounge area. The loft front door is the original entrance for unloading the grain, the ramp opposite (on which next door's garage is built) is the ramp up which the carts were brought to the mill. There is a inscribed stone at the base of the lofts entrance stairs, indicating the initials of the miller at that time, 1880, Henry Ivey.
