Relax and enjoy a beautiful country cottage in a pretty riverside village. Large & airy twin-bedded room in the oldest beamed part of the house. Close to Henley (the Royal Regatta, food, literary & music festivals), Reading, Windsor & Oxford. 30 mins by train from London. Suits people working in the Thames Valley, as well as those travelling for pleasure. Earlier check-in by arrangement.

The space
My home is an attractive 400-year old listed cottage in the pretty village of Sonning. The house has recently been redecorated and there is a pleasant kitchen and wet-room. Twin beds can be combined. A self-serve continental breakfast is included.

During your stay
As you prefer! I often bake bread for guests and can sometimes provide evening meals on request. I've led guided walks of the area.

Other things to note
Easy access to Thames Valley Park and Reading 15mins by car or along the Thames. Safe off-road parking and secure storage for cycles available. Cycling to Redgrave Pinsent rowing course available. Bike may be available on request.
The Coppa Club is a great all-day bistro a pleasant 10 mins' walk away.

The house overlooks a field through which runs the Thames weir stream. Some great walks along the river and handy spots for wild swimming in the summer.

Double canoe also available.

Neighbourhood highlights

Conveniently located for business or pleasure in the Thames Valley, including Henley Royal Regatta, Oxford and Windsor. Pick up from Reading or Twyford railway stations possible. Close to a backwater of the river Thames, with great walks along the towpath and in the hills above. Possible to arrive by river, with a slipway for small boats and canoes a short distance away.

Some great places to eat in walking distance include Sonning's popular bistro style Coppa Club and the historic Bull coaching inn, plus the Flowing Spring, Shoulder of Mutton and Crown pubs. The Mill at Sonning dinner theatre is a short walk away as is the famous and award winning French Horn hotel and restaurant.
