Room in a cottage

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
My family have lived in this lovely beamed 400-year old cottage for over 50 years and I enjoy sharing it with travellers. See my other rooms for a larger room with desk.

The gardens are attractive and it is close to the River Thames and the historic village of Sonning. Henley-on-Thames, Heathrow, Windsor, Oxford and London are all within an hour.

The space
The core of the cottage was built some 400 years ago and was later extended to provide two dwellings for workers at the local watermill which is now a fine dinner theatre.

Check in time before 6 may be possible by arrangement.

Guest access
There are shared spaces including bathroons downstairs. Office space by arrangement for working from home.

During your stay
I'm sociable and curious but respectful also. Have led guided walks in the area.

Neighbourhood highlights

Sonning is a beautiful Thames-side village with many attractive rose-covered cottages and some fine places to eat. I love walking and cycling locally and am happy to share my knowledge of enjoyable outings. I have written on the history of the area and can also lead guided expeditions. Find out why the area was so important to Wilfred Owen, the great poet of WW1, and discover fascinating stories of local industry and wildlife.
