Renting your own pub does come with some stricter conditions and responsibilities than a usual Airbnb! Our neighbours have been lovely and welcoming since we opened. It’s paramount to our business and reputation that our guests follow the 3 main noise conditions attached to the business to ensure we do not disrupt our neighbours. Beal is a beautiful, small, friendly village with next to no crime and as such, we do not accept loutish or aggressive bookings. We appreciate this does not suit all groups. The building is detached on its own large plot of land however our noise rules are based around outside noise traveling across the car park after 10pm. Every weekend we welcome large group bookings who do not struggle to follow the 3 main rules. We are extremely lucky to have such brilliant guests week in week out, we will always do everything we can to ensure you have a brilliant experience, we just ask that our noise rules are followed and communicated and understood by everyone in your party :)

Welcome to The Retreat, a truly one-of-a-kind Airbnb experience that transcends a typical rental. Here, you don't just stay at a pub; you become the landlord of your own private establishment, with the entire property – from the bustling bar to the comfortable bedrooms – reserved exclusively for you and your chosen guests. There will be no other guests on site, ensuring absolute privacy and an uncompromised experience. Although guests have total access to the bar area, we are not able to offer kegs/the lines for non staffed events due to Licencing.

The atmosphere is yours to craft, whether it's a lively evening of friendly competition around the pool table or dart board, or a full-blown singalong on our karaoke system. For those cooler evenings, the warmth of the indoor fireplace provides the perfect backdrop for cozy conversations and shared laughter.
Beyond the pub's main area, The Retreat offers exceptional accommodations designed for large groups.
Upstairs we have six comfortable bedrooms, including five boasting private en-suite bathrooms (with either a shower or bath) and a sixth with easy access to a separate bathroom, comfort and convenience are paramount
. Downstairs, two additional bedrooms with four bunk beds each (double on the bottom, single on top) provide flexible sleeping arrangements, making The Retreat perfect for significant events, weddings, family celebrations, and special occasions that demand space and character.
But the charm extends far beyond the walls of the pub. Nestled beside the picturesque River Aire, The Retreat is set in the heart of the beautiful, peaceful, and stunning Yorkshire countryside in the lovely village of Beal. This tranquil setting offers more than just scenic views; the river provides excellent opportunities for fishing, while local excursions like canoeing and kayaking invite adventure. Despite its serene location, you're surprisingly well-connected. Major cities like York (30 mins), Leeds (30 mins), Doncaster (30 mins), Sheffield (55 mins), and Hull (50 mins) are all within convenient travel distances, making The Retreat an ideal central base for exploring the wider region. We can organise mini buses to cities such as York for days/nights.
