A cosy, stylish self-catering apartment on the stunning Isle of Seil, 25 mins south of Oban, across the famous ‘Bridge Over The Atlantic’ (no ferry required). Close to the sea, local shop, the award-winning Tigh An Truish bar and restaurant, golf course and Easdale Island. Fitted kitchen, wood burning stove, luxury bedding, dining/office area and beautiful gardens.

Suitable for couples or solo travellers (and dogs!), who love eating, drinking, walking, wild swimming and easy island hopping.

The space
A cosy, stylish living area, with wood burning stove (logs provided), plush sofa and smart TV. Perfect for warming the toes after a day of walking, wild swimming or stone-skimming.

A well equipped kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, cafetiere and ample worktop space (tea, coffee, sugar, oil etc provided). A dining table with corner seating 'nook' - perfect for meals, and also as a desk for working - if you're that way inclined!

Upstairs is a lovely, calm, airy bedroom with a king size bed, with luxury bed linen and an en suite shower room. White cotton towels, Scottish seaweed & sage shampoo and herbal bodywash provided.

Outside, there are seats out the front for morning coffee, and a table with seating in the back garden for drinks and al fresco dining.

Guest access
The Nook is a self contained apartment with its own front door, adjoined to the owners' house. Guests at The Nook can use allocated areas of our large garden.

Neighbourhood highlights

The Nook is based in Clachan Seil, on the Isle of Seil, 25 minutes south of Oban, across the famous ‘Bridge Over The Atlantic’. The apartment is joined on to the owners’ house ‘Ealachan Bhana’ (‘White Swans’ in Gaelic). Seil is one of The Slate Islands, alongside Easdale, Luing, Shuna, Torsa and Belnahua. We are based right opposite the Sound of Seil and the island’s nine hole golf course, which famously includes a hole that involves hitting your ball ‘across the Atlantic’.

The local, brilliantly stocked shop is a few minutes walk away, and there are two excellent pubs a few minutes drive in each direction - Tigh an Truish, based right next to the bridge, with fantastic 2AA rosette food and drink in its restaurant and pub, and The Oyster which has a stunning beer terrace overlooking the sea. Please check seasonal opening times of both. The island of Easdale is round the corner - just a five minute drive and one minute ferry journey - which is home to another great bar and eatery The Puffer (open Apr-Sep), as well as the famous slate quarries for wild swimming and the World Stone Skimming Championships.

There are various beautiful and interesting walks within minutes of The Nook, including one right over our back fence, where you can see the view below after a few minutes walk to the top of the hill! There are fascinating historical sites, beautiful gardens, nature reserves and other islands all nearby.

We’re Willie and Niall (pronounced ‘Neil’) and we moved to the Isle of Seil in Feb 2025. This pic was taken on our first day here from the top of the wee hill behind our house - the smiles say it all! We both worked in luxury hospitality early on in our careers, before going on to become designers in different fields. We like to think we’ve brought the two worlds together with The Nook. We’re just next door and here to help!
