The space
Tucked away amongst orchards and rolling Kent countryside, Wagon Lodge is a beautifully designed boutique barn retreat offering the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort.

This stylish black weatherboarded lodge has been thoughtfully converted to create a warm and welcoming escape for up to four guests, ideal for romantic weekends, countryside adventures, vineyard visits, or relaxed family getaways.

Step inside to discover a light-filled open-plan living space where soaring vaulted ceilings, exposed oak beams, and underfloor heating create an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and wonderfully cosy. Large French doors open onto the private courtyard, allowing the indoors and outdoors to flow seamlessly together, while peaceful countryside views provide the perfect backdrop for slow mornings and relaxed evenings.

The beautifully furnished lounge invites you to unwind after a day exploring Kent’s castles, gardens, vineyards and coastline, with comfortable seating, soft lighting and calming interiors designed for comfort in every season.

The fully equipped kitchen has everything needed for leisurely breakfasts, cosy evenings in, or long summer lunches outdoors, including an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, coffee machine, washing machine, microwave, and fridge freezer. The dining table also provides a practical workspace for guests combining relaxation with remote working.

The lodge comfortably sleeps four guests across two thoughtfully styled bedrooms. The master bedroom offers a peaceful and relaxing retreat with a double bed, TV, and chest of drawers, while the second bedroom features twin beds, a fitted wardrobe, and TV — ideal for children, friends or additional guests.

The contemporary bathroom includes both a bath and overhead shower, offering the perfect place to unwind after countryside walks or days spent exploring the nearby coast.

Outside, guests can enjoy the lodge’s spacious private courtyard complete with loungers, outdoor dining furniture, BBQ, perfect for al fresco meals, morning coffee in the sunshine, or evenings beneath the stars.

The Lodge shares its large driveway with the owners. And there is ample parking available for two cars.

To make your stay as comfortable as possible, fresh bed linen, towels, tea, coffee pods, sugar, olive oil, and kitchen essentials are all provided, along with thoughtful touches throughout to help you settle in immediately.

Families travelling with young children are welcome, with a travel cot and highchair available on request.

Ideally located near the picturesque villages of Goudhurst and Lamberhurst, Wagon Lodge is perfectly placed for exploring the very best of Kent, from National Trust properties and award-winning vineyards such as Balfour Winery, Biddenden Vineyard and Chapel Down to the charming streets of Rye, the beaches of Camber Sands, and the scenic beauty of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Neighbourhood highlights

Goudhurst is a pretty village in the Kentish Weald, the village is absurdly picturesque, with a timber-framed inn standing beside the 12th-century church and traditional oast houses looking over the village duck pond. Climb the 150ft high church tower for superb views over the Weald.

There are a remarkable 217 listed buildings in Goudhurst, including five oast houses. The historic high street has changed very little over the centuries and features a lovely collection of historic buildings, many of them in traditional Kentish weatherboard style.

Located near the Kent / East Sussex border surrounded by stunning countryside there is no shortage of great walks and cycle rides both country and coastal.

The town of Royal Tunbridge Wells is a 20 minutes drive with its famous historical Pantiles with it's many cafes, restaurants, wine bars and weekend markets. From May to September there is a live Jazz night on the band stand where you can enjoy the music and dine al fresco at many of the eateries along the Pantiles. (There is a £5 entrance fee).

Go on vineyard tours at local wineries such as Balfour Winery, Biddenden Vineyard and Chapel Down or take a tour of the Anno Gin distillery in Marden. Worth noting that some guest walk to Balfour Winery or Herber Hall Vineyard (which has a bar that opens on weekends).

Kent has the most National Trust properties of any county, the nearest being 10 mins away at Scotney Castle then there is Sissinghurst Castle or visit the moated Castle of Bodiam. Combine with a ride on the The Kent & East Sussex Railway which operates steam trains from nearby Tenterden. A pretty town for some lunch or shopping.
For the more adventurous try Paddle boarding at Bodiam Boating Station, Go Ape at Bedegbury's Pinetum in Goudhurst or try the many water sports at Bewl Water in Lamberhurst, sailing, wind surfing, canoeing or Aqua Park.

The famous 3 miles sandy beach at Camber Sands is a 40 minutes drive, where there is plenty to do in this area as well as visit the medieval town of Rye, with it's cobbled streets and Tudor buildings, not to mention numerous independent stores, restaurants and cafes.

There is a Welcome guide book and leaflets at Wagon Lodge for you.
Helen will also send you the online Guide Book in advance of your arrival so you can plan your visit, she is also on hand to help with any recommendations.
