Neighbourhood highlights

Goudhurst is a pretty village in the Kentish Weald, the village is absurdly picturesque, with a timber-framed inn standing beside the 12th-century church and traditional oast houses looking over the village duck pond. Climb the 150ft high church tower for superb views over the Weald.

There are a remarkable 217 listed buildings in Goudhurst, including five oast houses. The historic high street has changed very little over the centuries and features a lovely collection of historic buildings, many of them in traditional Kentish weatherboard style.

Located near the Kent / East Sussex border surrounded by stunning countryside there is no shortage of great walks and cycle rides both country and coastal.

The town of Royal Tunbridge Wells is a 20 minutes drive with its famous historical Pantiles with it's many cafes, restaurants, wine bars and weekend markets. From May to September there is a live Jazz night on the band stand where you can enjoy the music and dine al fresco at many of the eateries along the Pantiles. (There is a £5 entrance fee).

Go on vineyard tours at local wineries such as Hush Heath Estate, Biddenden Vineyard and Chapel Down or take a tour of the Anno Gin distillery in Marden.

Kent has the most National Trust properties of any county, the nearest being 10 mins away at Scotney Castle then there is Sissinghurst Castle or visit the moated Castle of Bodiam. Combine with a ride on the The Kent & East Sussex Railway which operates steam trains from nearby Tenterden. A pretty town for some lunch or shopping.
For the more adventurous try Paddle boarding at Bodiam Boating Station, Go Ape at Bedegbury's Pinetum in Goudhurst or try the many water sports at Bewl Water in Lamberhurst, sailing, wind surfing, canoeing or Aqua Park.

The famous 3 miles sandy beach at Camber Sands is a 40 minutes drive, where there is plenty to do in this area as well as visit the medieval town of Rye, with it's cobbled streets and Tudor buildings, not to mention numerous independent stores, restaurants and cafes.

There is a Welcome guide book and leaflets at Wagon Lodge for you.
Helen will also send you the online Guide Book in advance of your arrival so you can plan your visit, she is also on hand to help with any recommendations.
