The space
The beautiful French front door opens into a thoughtfully renovated open-plan kitchen, dining, and living space, finished to a high standard. The dining area comfortably seats six, while the well-equipped kitchen and pantry provide everything needed for relaxed, at-home meals. The living area offers a cosy place to unwind, complete with a TV and fireplace.
On the second floor, you’ll find two spacious double bedrooms, each with stylish wardrobes and air conditioning. One bedroom features a queen bed, while the second includes a daybed that can be extended into a queen. A separate toilet and sink are conveniently located on this floor.
The third floor, also air-conditioned, offers a bright and versatile space ideal for both work and play space, with a dedicated desk area. The tranquil primary bedroom features a king-size bed, wardrobe, and beautiful views across the village church, rooftops, surrounding landscape, and rolling vineyards. This floor also includes a generous family bathroom with a walk-in shower, sink, and toilet, along with a laundry nook equipped with a washing machine.

Other things to note
Life in Montlaur is wonderfully serene, with beautiful architecture, a family-friendly park (including a 3G football pitch), and a warm, welcoming community. The weekly market takes place every Tuesday and is well worth a visit, alongside a much-loved wood-fired pizza truck every Thursday. The region is also renowned for its excellent local wines, with plenty of opportunities for tastings nearby.
Free parking is available on the surrounding streets, and high-speed internet is accessible throughout the house.
Cycling in this area is not to be missed—smooth tarmac winds through vineyards, with quiet, often near car-free roads and varied terrain that make it easy to tailor your ride, whether you’re after something leisurely or more challenging. We’re also happy to suggest some favourite routes.
With breathtaking views of the Corbières, hiking is equally rewarding. A walk through the Gorges du Congoust leads to the nearby swimming spot at Ribaute swimming hole—perfect for a refreshing dip on a warm day.
For something a little different, horse riding adventures are also available right here in the village, offering a unique way to explore the surrounding landscape.
The beautiful village of Lagrasse is just 15 minutes away. The Canal du Midi can be accessed at Trèbes (also 15 minutes away), where you’ll find a lively weekly market and canal-side cafés and restaurants. The historic Cité de Carcassonne is just 20 minutes away, offering both old and new town centres and remarkable architecture.
For a day by the sea, the charming coastal town of Gruissan is around 40 minutes away. Perpignan—the gateway to the Catalan region—is just 45 minutes away, and the Spanish border is within easy reach, with Girona approximately a two-hour drive.
