The space
Walkfares Lodge is a beautiful Essex barn-style house set in its own private grounds on a quiet private driveway near Boreham village, just 5 miles from Chelmsford.
The house sleeps up to 6 guests across three well-appointed bedrooms
Bedroom 1
Overlooking the rear garden, the master bedroom features a comfortable double bed and en suite shower room. A hairdryer is provided.
Bedroom 2
A bright and spacious room overlooking the rear garden, with a king-size zip and link bed that can be configured as two singles on request. Includes a hotel-style clothes rail and a hairdryer.
Bedroom 3
A lovely double room overlooking the rear garden, with built-in wardrobe and hairdryer.
Bathrooms
The master bedroom has its own en suite shower room. Guests in bedrooms 2 and 3 share the beautifully appointed family bathroom, which features a stunning rolltop bath and a separate spacious shower. Fresh towels are provided for all guests.
The open-plan living and dining room is warm and welcoming, with underfloor heating, Sky Glass TV and plenty of space for the whole group to relax together.
Outside is where Walkfares Lodge really comes into its own. During the summer months (May–September) guests have exclusive use of a private heated swimming pool, hot tub, poolside BBQ and a fully equipped summer house with Sky TV that rotates to face the outdoor seating area. The main patio has a gas BBQ, dining table and loungers.
The kitchen is fully electric with an induction hob, electric oven, integrated fridge/freezer and a Nespresso coffee machine. A utility room houses the washing machine and tumble dryer.
Walking distance to 3 village pubs:
- The Queens Head, a recently refurbished village pub with live music and good food, is a very short walk away.
- The Lion Inn, a quality pub restaurant with a beautiful courtyard garden, locally sourced menu and daily specials.
- The Six Bells, a friendly village pub on Main Road. Good food served daily, relaxed atmosphere. Great for a casual lunch or dinner.
The village has 2 shops, a post office, a Chinese take-away and a hairdressers.
RHS Hyde Hall, Hylands Park, the Essex coast and Mersea Island are all within easy reach.
There are 4 walking trails around Boreham and the Chelmer Valley, all starting close to the Lodge.
Beaulieu Park station is just a 5-minute drive with plenty of parking, offering fast trains to London Liverpool Street in around 40 minutes.
