The space
Our trailer-and-roof-tent setup is a fun twist on glamping – part camper, part cabin, part adventure base.
• Inside the trailer: double bed for 2 adults, 12v power with inverter, mains hook-up, lighting, and a small heater.
• Roof tent: sleeps 2 adults or 2 children, with a little 12v heater to take the chill off.
• Galley kitchen: pop round the back, lift the hatch, and you’ll find a pull-out gas cooker, worktop and storage – cook while looking out over the fields.
• Outdoor living: a big 270° awning with sides makes a sheltered spot to eat, relax or store gear.
Other upgrades are available for additional cost such as:
> Large full height Charcoal BBQ Hire
> Wood Fire Pit and Wood
> Bike Hire
> Hiking Gear Hire
> Additional tent space next to the camper
> Also see our luxury bell tent listing which is also on the farm and can sleep up to 4.
Guest access
You’ve got two choices of where to stay with Douggie:
1. Included in the price, Douggie is situated in our beautiful meadow field on our farm, with all the benefits and access of the campsite next door – which has toilets, showers, wash-up facilities, a children’s playground, and often has a mobile bar and pop up food catering.
Or
2. Any other registered campsite within the Peak District – we’ll tow the trailer and roof tent there and set it up ready for you. You just cover the campsite fees (minimum 4 night stay applies for this, unless you wish to pay for the delivery and collection fee on the camper to the campsite).
Whichever you choose, the trailer, roof tent and awning are all yours for your stay - just let us know which option you would prefer at the time of booking.
Other things to note
• Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but as we’re a working smallholding with sheep, please keep them on a lead.
• ***Haymaking Season*** As our tents and camper are situated within a working hay meadow, we’d like to make guests aware that towards the end of July and during August we may be making hay in the field around you.
Haymaking is entirely weather-dependent, so although we try to carry out these activities during periods when we have fewer guests staying, sometimes the work needs to be done when conditions are right.
This may mean occasional tractor activity and some additional noise for a few hours each day while the hay is turned, baled and collected over the course of a few days .
However, many guests enjoy watching this traditional countryside activity and find it all part of the authentic rural experience. Some have even been known to jump in and help bring the hay in!
• EV charging is available on site (at a small cost).
• Collection of up to 4 adults from Derby, Buxton or Cromford train stations can be arranged for additional cost.
• Bike hire, BBQ hire, fire pit and wood, hiking gear and car hire are available on request for additional cost.
• Guests are welcome to use our simple farm-gym in the hay barn - if you wish to use this, it requires booking in advance on point of booking your stay with us.
• This is a fun, back-to-nature stay – not a luxury lodge. You’ll have heat, light, power, and a comfy place to sleep, but you’ll also be part of the outdoors.
*** Check out our luxury bell tent as well - why not book it as a well! Douggie and the Bell tent can sleep up 8 in total, and we also accept, for additional cost, your own tents as well! ***
