Starting in late September, we’re testing different ways to display the price of stays, including all fees, in listing search results. The goal is to create a booking experience that’s easier, faster, and more explicit for guests. Here’s what you need to know about this pricing experiment – and how to provide feedback.

How does this pricing trial work?

The test randomly selects how to present pricing information to guests in different formats. The formats show nightly rates or total trip cost, including cleaning fees and Airbnb service fees, in search results. Taxes appear as a separate line item on the checkout page.

The trial applies to guests searching for stays in certain locations worldwide. During the trial, banners of varying sizes may appear across listings, alerting guests of the change.

Does this pricing trial affect my payout?

No. The amount a guest pays and Host payouts are not affected in any way.

You always have control over the price you set for your space. During this trial, you can still adjust your nightly rate in the Pricing and Availability section of your listing details.

Why do nightly rates need to look different?

We designed our existing service to break out the different fees and taxes so that guests fully understand the potential charges prior to paying. Over the past year, we’ve seen a significant travel rebound on Airbnb and, while we believe our current format works well, we’re constantly striving to improve everyone’s experience.

By testing different ways to display prices in listings, we hope to identify whether a new format could boost Host bookings and better serve our global community.

What can I do to support this trial?

Whether or not your listing is in a location involved in the experiment, you can always update your listing description to flaunt what’s special about you and your space – and showcase the value you offer.

We welcome your feedback on everything we do, including how pricing shows up in listing search results.
