Why locals recommend it
Tiny, dimly lit and only seats about 25—Chaco Bar is a classic yakitori restaurant that feels like a little wooden Japanese den. The water is served in carafes containing charcoal, to purify it, which is very cool and so Japanese, and the sake list is excellent. The chef cooks beautiful meats, the best being his creamy, silky wagyu tongue. I love this place. After eating here, I like to go to Pocket Bar across the road for an aperitif. It’s a cute little bespoke place—all the furniture looks like it was found on the street! And it works—the atmosphere is fun. Most importantly, the bartenders know their way around a cocktail list.
Tips from locals
Amazing Ramen a must do but you must book its very popular and has only a few seats they now have a bigger venue in Potts Point too
Amazing Ramen - best in town. Ramen is lunch only Tuesdays- Friday - 12pm until sold out. Also for dinner Monday evenings. Regular evenings it is a Teppanyaki place, BBQ skewers, can get expensive but lunch is reasonably priced $15-18 for a massive ramen.. So good!
