The Hogstad Homestead

The Hogstad Homestead has been in our family for nearly 70 years. The name is in honor of my great grandparents Ardell&Elaine Hogstad who bought the property in the early 1950's. They raised their two children there and also operated a farm for many years. Since then it has been home to many family members. In 2017 my husband & I had the opportunity to buy it. It was home to us for 5 amazing years where we created many happy memories. We are now ready to share this special property with others!

Relax at this peaceful, private suite with a hot tub. Over 800 sq. ft. of living area including 2 bedrooms with queen size beds, full bath including large shower with jets. In April 2023 we added a kitchenette with sink, fridge microwave, toaster. We don’t have a stove inside, but you have access to an outdoor gas grill. Property backs onto the Buffalo River so you can enjoy a walk along the river’s edge. Also included is the use of the fire pit, patio furniture and hot tub weather permitting.

Stay in a Northern Dog Trot! Think of this place as a hotel suite but in a house in the country! Ideal for families, couples & solo travelers wanting more space. You have a separate entrance to your suite on the opposite end of our home separated by the dog trot a enclosed breezeway. We are ideally located 7 miles south of Menomonie off of Hwy 25 and 1/2 mile to quaint Downsville. The Red Cedar Bike Trail is within 1 mile. Perfect if you are visiting your son or daughter at UW-Stout.

Fresh country air. Beautiful view. Cable TV. WiFi. Hot Tub.(chemical free) Spacious furnished kitchen. Sectional sofa with recliners. Recliner. Electric fireplace. Washer and dryer. This beautiful getaway is attached to the family business shop. We do load trailers occasionally and will be working in shop at times. Minimal noise. Upstairs apartment is occupied but has separate entrance. We are only 25 minutes from two lakes with beaches. We are one mile from snowmobile trails.
