Holiday rentals in Altoona

The home was beautiful and clean. It was a short drive to town for supplies and to the lake for some fresh air. Our family loved the space to spread out for sleeping. Beds and bedding were so comfortable and the wooded setting was dark and peaceful, all of which made for restful sleep. The kids loved the game space in the basement- playing ping pong, air hockey, and on the PSII. The kitchen was wonderfully equipped for making family meals and the large dining table allowed for the 10 of us to eat together. All of this, plus we were able to enjoy all of this with our 2 dogs. Ellen was responsive to a couple of questions and needs, as well as understanding when an item was accidentally broken. The only concern was some additional rules that were not on the original listing, but were messaged a few weeks before our reservation.

My husband and I were getting married and we decided that although we live just a few minutes up the road that some privacy before and after the wedding would be needed. I didn’t feel like I was near my home, it felt away from everything, no one bothered us and the place was great. The jacuzzi was absolutely amazing, and we had everything we needed.

Susan’s place was absolutely wonderful. I’ve always dreamed of staying somewhere peaceful and secluded—and this cabin delivered exactly that. The view was spectacular, and even though the weather wasn’t fully on our side (a mix of rain and strong winds during our two-day stay), the beauty and serenity of the place still made it a memorable trip for my daughter and me. What truly stood out was how accurate the listing was—what you see is exactly what you get. As someone who’s stayed in several Airbnbs, I really appreciated that there were no surprises. The home was just as described, and Susan was incredibly responsive and thoughtful throughout. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful space with us! We left feeling refreshed and grateful 🙏🙂

This was the closest place we could find for where we needed to be and it was perfect!! Had some trouble getting in but that was on my end and the hosts quickly came to the rescue!! We wanted to leave a note in the guest book but the pen was gone and I didn’t have one. Who doesn’t have a pen in their car? Me!! Great place. Would definitely stay there again.

We had a wonderful time at this Airbnb! The house was fantastic, and we especially loved the small creek next to the property—it added a lovely touch to our stay. The outdoor TV, fire pit, and hot tub were well-maintained and perfect for relaxing evenings. The basement was a bonus. There's a pool table and plenty of activities to keep us entertained.

A great stay just outside of State College! My family and I had no trouble getting in and out of State college from the home, so location was key. The amenities were all excellent and well-thought out, from the toiletries to the ingredients in the kitchen. You will hear traffic from the highway so light sleepers, pack your earplugs. We would definitely consider staying here next time we come out to Happy Valley; days later, my daughter still mentions how she misses the “Hot Tub House!”

The description and photos are very accurate but do not do justice to this cottage. It was absolutely perfect, we fell in love with it as soon as we walked in. You can see all the hard work and effort John and Lori put into this place for their guest. It was decorated beautifully, my husband loves all the canoes that were sitting around. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away and just relax. Thank you again John and Lori.
