Holiday rentals in Binibeca

Less crowded than many of the larger cities on Menorca, the quiet Balearic Island village of Binibeca is popular with holidaymakers looking for a touch more relaxation in their Spanish vacation. At one end of town, you’ll find Binibeca Vell. Built in the 1970s and made up of striking white houses and narrow streets, it is an exact replica of an old Menorca fishing village from years ago.

At the other end of the city is Binibeca Nou, where you’ll find the main beach. This sandy stretch is in a quiet cove with shallow, calm waters patrolled by lifeguards in the peak months, offering safe swimming conditions. There’s even a beach bar, so you can enjoy a cool drink while you sunbathe, or you can rent a sun lounger and umbrella for some shade. For a little more action, pop over to nearby Punta Prima, which has a livelier beach, more shops and restaurants, and bars and nightclubs.

Being so close to the Mediterranean Sea, the city experiences warm sunshine almost year-round, perfect for enjoying your stay in one of the villas in Binibeca. June through August are the hottest months, so be sure to pack plenty of sunscreen and a hat. In June, Menorca’s biggest event, the Festival of Sant Joan, takes place in nearby Ciutadella. Dating back to the 14th century, the festival is a spectacle of parades, performances, music, and food. The spring and autumn months are possibly the most pleasant times to visit, as you won’t get the stifling hot temperatures you can see in summer but still expect plenty of warm sunny days to enjoy the beach. Wintertime is much quieter in Binibeca, and although it will be cooler, you will still find sunshine and mild weather.

Binibeca Vell

Binibeca Vell was built in the 1970s to recreate the feel of living in Menorca hundreds of years ago. Every home is pristine and white, and there is a small church, main square, and promenade perfect for afternoon strolls. Wander along the small pier for beautiful views over the water, and make sure you look back at the picture-perfect town, a striking vision of white.

Monte Toro

Head 30 minutes to the town of Es Mercadal, where you can climb up Monte Toro — Menorca’s highest mountain at over 350 metres above sea level. The walk up can be challenging but certainly worth the effort, as you will be rewarded by stunning panoramic views of the island. If you’re short on time or stamina, you can also drive to the summit.

Binibeca Land Train

The Binibeca Land Train is an hourly service that runs from Binibeca to the neighbouring town of Punta Prima, meandering its way along the coast and offering beautiful views. Once you reach Punta Prima, you can wander around the shops, have a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants, or take a swim at the beach before you hop back on board for your trip home.
