Family-friendly holiday rentals in Canton

my second stay and it was great once again.

We had a great family week away at David’s place and as a host he was super helpful. The view from the window/hot-tub/deck was fantastic, shame we could not bring it home with us! The weather was not great for the week, meaning limited time on the lake. We did manage a day on a hired boat, the other days we went on day trips to local towns and Ottawa by train from Brockville. We also did a city cruise of 1000 islands and attended the annual 1000 islands rib fest. The house was well equipped with all we needed for a great family stay and a relaxing week. For a BBQ recommend a trip to “The Butcher Shop”.

Great house at a great location. House was nice and warm despite the 0 degree weather with high winds. Driveway was maintained clear during 15” of snow. Great sledding on the property, ice fishing on the lake and cross country skiing on the rail trail that passes the house. Main floor and upper floor were great, lower level needs some TLC and the two lower level beds were very uncomfortable. No problem with the rest of the rooms. Kitchen was well stocked and plenty of room to gather on the main floor. Could use a larger table, plenty of room in the house for our group of 13 but not a big enough table for us to all eat at together (kitchen island provided most of the needed extra spots). Overall a great place at a great location.

Great Lake front cabin with lots of amenities. Boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, hot tub- kept our family of five, including 3 teenagers occupied for days. Love the addition of the gas fire pit on the porch off the living room- started and ended every day out there, watching and listening to all the lake has to offer. Great trail running right from east shore drive. We loved it! We will be back!

Erin's place was wonderful for our family of 12! We agree with the other reviews - the photos don't do it justice. It was clean and well-equipped. The only negative was that we arrived on a very hot and humid day, so we definitely very hot, with no AC. We brought some fans and did purchase some larger fans. The kitchen was perfect - we made most of our meals. We did go out one night and the Gran View and really like that suggestion. The paddle boards/kayaks and floats were so nice to not have to rent. The river is super calm before and after storms or in the mornings. We rented a pontoon boat from Wellsey Island, and it was dropped off at a nearby marina. We docked the boat on one side or the other of the dock, depending on the current or rough waters. We loved the quiet road for walks, and only a 25 minute drive to A-bay. The grill worked well. All in all, it was a great place!

This home reminded me of an Adirondack Great Camp. The house is decorated and designed with the appeal of nature, blending into its natural surroundings. If you want to be near sparkling lakes, and towering evergreens this is the house. We visited the Wild Center, went to The Bog for hiking and professional photographs, hiked Coney Mountain, paddled and swam to our heart's content. The pictures you see on the home listing are truly accurate. There is room to spread out if you need a quiet space. Everything is clean...and always works! The beds are comfy. This was my second trip here, as a friend of mine rented it in the fall a few years ago and I couldn't wait to come for the summer with my grandchildren.

We had such a cozy and comfortable stay! The sunsets over the river were breathtaking. The fenced yard was such a luxury to have traveling with our dogs. It was a great location that made getting to any of the nearby towns and state parks very accessible! Highly recommend!

This was our second time at Rich's place. Rich was a great communicator and very responsive. The home is cozy, easy to work in the kitchen, and has a good gas BBQ on the porch (the BBQ could use a cleaning). Two main sleeping areas were perfect for us and the bathroom was all that we needed. A covered campfire area with benches was fantastic (both years we were there), and the proximity to Upper Saranac Lake Marina and the lake could not be better - just a few minutes up the road. I wish the house was not so close to the road as we prefer the sounds of the woods to the sounds of the road, HOWEVER, we were out recreating all day, so that really was not a big deal. Certainly, we would love to return again next summer, as Rich's house feels like our own vacation home! I would recommend this house to a couple or two friends or a small family seeking proximity to the lake for water sports and trails for hiking. Thanks again, Rich. We had a fantastic time!

Erin and Dave were wonderful hosts! The responding quickly to any questions! They even dropped off some orange clothing so we could hike in the woods since it was hunting season! They have a beautiful location!!

Worth every penny paid! This place is amazing, especially the little cabana on the water! It’s where I slept while my husband stayed in the house in the kids! So peaceful 🥰 Host was a gem! Thoughtful host!

Anita's cottage made us feel comfortable and relaxed. It had a great beach vibe look to it with all her personal touches in the decor and design of the cottage. The cottage is very sizable and to have the extra bathroom in the nearby shed was truly a luxury. The cottage is well situated right on the water with only steps on the large multi level deck giving access to the St. Lawrence River. Swimming was great for our family and dog as the access to the river was shallow and gradual to the lake. Both of the full days we had at the cottage was sunny and clear and we were able to take advantage of the stunning sunset that landed directly on the deck of the cottage. The kitchen was well stocked with the necessary spices and utensils necessary to cook inside or on the BBQ right outside. Anita was very responsive to our requests and was accommodating to a last minute change in the number of guests and allowed us to charge our Tesla in front of the cottage.

We had an excellent stay with Bonnie in Clayton. Her place was well cared for and convenient to everything. Bonnie was a responsive and hospitable host. We look forward to coming back. -Keith (and Amanda)

Pretty view of the Rideau River. Quiet spot to relax, take a stroll around the neighborhood. The kitchen had everything that was needed to cook. Comfy bed with a great view.

First time Airbnb user. What a GREAT place and experience! I was very nervous about the whole process. The owners put all that to rest quickly. Answered all questions faster than I expected. Provided detailed instructions, Harbor House is right on the water literally floating, with a great view of the river. It was very clean, and ready early for our visit. Our fall visit was only 3 days but we all absolutely enjoyed it. The kitchen, furniture, beds with linens, bathrooms with towels all were perfect. Parking was good as well. Evenings were spent on the porch talking, and of course, enjoying cocktails. Given it was October, we even had perfect weather, close to 70. The great weather was compliments of the owners at no charge. What a GREAT STAY! I would absolutely recommend this place.

We stayed here 1 night with our dogs and loved it! The property is beautiful and right along the water. Canoes and kayaks were right next to our rental which was awesome. The town with a bunch of restaurants is only 5 min away. We will definitely be back!!

This was minutes from St Lawrence University and a beautiful setting. It was fun to have the chickens and goats around and Sue was very helpful recommending a hike for us and talking through restaurant options. The space was cozy and inviting. It was too chilly to take advantage of the deck this time, but hopefully on another visit.

lets start with our hosts anne and rick. Very friendly and helpful. Anne very quick to respond to any questions or needs. The property is very well maintained ,very quiet and peaceful. Lovely on-ground pool very clean and accessible. All units and entire property would be suitable for someone with mobility issues. We are in the south suite. Plenty of room for us and 2 dogs. Very clean and one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in. Property is on a quiet road in a rural neighborhood surrounded by horse farms. Have had some lovely walks up the road with our dogs to say hello to the horses. Highly recommend ABBOTT ROAD SUITES. Lots to do in area and easy access to major roadways. Almost forgot great fire pit and really good BBQ available for use as well. Also found having small freezer as well as fridge was very helpful.Laundry room very handy with good washer and dryer. Really can't say anything negative about our stay here.

The house was exactly what we needed for our trip to the Ottawa area—exactly as depicted in the description! My partner arrived before I did, and Anne was very responsive, answering his questions as I was still driving to the house. We also appreciated that someone came to clear even more space in the parking area while we were there. Would highly recommend for anyone who needs a place to stay with their dogs.

Wow, what a gorgeous place!! The pictures don't do justice to how beautiful and peaceful the setting is and how unique and interesting the cottage is. We loved everything about it, and we spent hours just sitting on the balcony watching local boat traffic as well as giant tankers and freighters go by. It's an easy walk into Alex Bay and a short drive to Clayton where there's a better selection of restaurants.
