Shawn and Jennifer’s place was absolutely perfect for our family vacation to celebrate milestone birthdays! The kitchen is extremely well appointed with everything you’d need. We loved the easy access to the beach, especially because it was a great beach for little kids during low tide! We had a great time playing putt putt and enjoyed the deck in the mornings and evenings. All interactions with Shawn and Jennifer were friendly and helpful. They were gracious to accommodate a late check out for us, too. We hope to come back to OIB and if we do, we will certainly stay at Shawn and Jennifer’s little piece of heaven!

Great home to stay in well stocked kitchen and fenced in backyard for pets to play in.And feel at home no being on leash all week .A nice walk to beach but renting a golf cart makes it so much more fun so u can really sight see island and all it has to offer. House was very cozy just like at home.very nice neighborhood And water is close at end of street to put ur boat in . Would definitely suggest this to everyone wanting a family home away from. Home.

Jennifer’s place was absolutely perfect! We came for the weekend to run the oak island marathon and her location was amazing. The house was so easy to get to, and the place was so clean and accurately described. We were steps from the beach and the deck was huge. We were able to relax, laugh, cook and comfortably house 7 adults and 1 child. The kitchen was fully stocked and recommendations were provided of nearby restaurants. I would 100% recommend and stay at Jennifer’s place again :)

Alisa provided great instructions on check in / check out. Location was very walkable to the beach. My children loved the bunk bed, and the entire place was cozy and beach-themed! We really enjoyed not having to bring our wagon as she had a beach cart for us to use. Quick drive to most restaurants and grocery stores! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Sweet Retreat - Pet Friendly

This home was beautiful and near a lot of great places to eat (including a delicious ice cream shop). It was also very spacious - we had plenty of room for five adults, two large dogs, and an infant (with all of her extra luggage). I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious the rooms and bathrooms were as photos can be misleading, but these rooms were perfect. The fenced in patio and back porch areas were great for enjoying in the evenings, and the fenced in back yard was so convenient for the dogs. We also had use of the garage for parking which was a nice touch. The listing is very accurate in that it is a 5-7 minute walk to the beach; however, just a note that you do have to cross a pretty busy road without a crosswalk. Not a big deal but for families with small children, it might not be the most convenient. That said, we felt the house was GREAT value and would 100% stay there again.

I had an amazing stay! The house exceeded all my expectations. It was incredibly clean, beautifully decorated, and equipped with everything I needed. Tes location was perfect- quiet and peaceful, yet close to all the attractions. I would definitely stay here again!

We actually were here during a tropical storm so didn’t get the full effect, but definitely would look to come back. So close to the beach, also has a pool which is great for the kids. Doesn’t flood during a tropical storm which is also a plus.

great for an overnight stay on our way to Florida. my kids were happy there were toys there to play with. the bed was comfortable but the bedding itself smelled a little like old people but it wasn't unbearable. the bathroom was huge and very clean! toilet was difficult to flush and I tried to take a bath but the hot water runs out quick so it was a warm bath instead lol. overall easy place to find and would recommend! host was very nice and responsive, even sent photos of what doors to use and where to park. left snacks for us as well!!

Photos really don’t do this place justice. It’s a beautiful home with beautiful surroundings. We loved watching the sunsets and sunrises from the back deck! The access to the beach is convenient and we had the beach to ourselves most of the time. Our family of 11 had space to spread out and the large well equipped kitchen had plenty of everything. The setting room was stocked with games for every age which made for great family time. No need to bring anything but yourselves! We absolutely loved staying at Stacey’s house and hope to visit there again!

I had an extended stay at Pelican’s Nest while working nearby. It was the perfect home away from home! The kitchen was stocked with all the equipment I needed, the main bedroom had storage and bathroom was spacious, and laundry worked well. It was unusually chilly during my time there, otherwise I would have taken advantage of the beautiful sunroom and nearby beach access more often. Nancy was a great host and checked in to make sure everything was running smoothly. If you need a place in the area I would definitely recommend Pelican’s Nest!
