Beachfront holiday rentals in Coffee Bay

The place had a cozy, homey feel with stunning surroundings, and Lu was incredibly welcoming. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mdumbi!

If you love the outdoors and want to visit a place still untouched by the commercialisation that is happening everywhere else go to Mdumbi beach. What to expect? The hosts Lu and Otto are rock stars, more than adequate backpackers accommodations, a beautiful beach and amazing pools in the river for swimming. The road from Nqeleni has amazing views but is not for those with gravel issues so be prepared for that. Don't expect? Excess and opulence, it's not necessary and there is no place for it. I will definitely be going back...

Where do I start?? Coffee Shack. This is where you want to be when in Coffee Bay. We booked for 2 nights but simply had to extend an extra night. Hospitality at its best: Treated like kings, warm and friendly welcome from every staff member we greeted and the receptionists were very informative, easily reachable and always willing to make your stay an exceptional experience! We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and after a long drive a complimentary ice cold welcome beer was the most unexpected and oh so welcome! The King's House was fully equipped for self catering and most comfortable even though we never had to cook as the restaurant is reasonably priced and has wonderful food and great coffee!!! ( if you are here on a Sunday night you will also get a free meal for dinner!!) With sweeping views of the ocean and the beach, we never wanted to leave and we will definitely return to this piece of paradise!

We enjoyed our stay here while working in Zithulele village. Would recommend bringing one’s own drinking water and to consider a strong vehicle if it’s been raining for the access road.

Though the road is slow going it was still fine for our tiny crap rental car. The rondavel was amazing, we loved the creative architecture, food was good, water is safe to drink, and it is really neat to see the community building this hostel is doing. We felt safe but there are random people who pester you when you are walking around outside the hostel and on the beach so I recommend locking up well!

Such a beautiful place, walking distance from the beach. Everyone was friendly. Relatively close drive to hole in the wall.

Our time in Coffee Bay was so lovely! There is a wonderful view to the ocean and only a few Steps Walking by foot. Judy and the Team were so friendly. They make a good feeling to ous - thank You very much 🤗

Judy and her team went above and beyond. Their hospitality was exceptional. we traveled from far, they were able to do a late check-in, as well as accomodate us with a meal at a short notice upon our arrival. All staff were incredibly friendly and despite the rain the view was incredible and well worth it.
